Given that, the service was very good. We ordered drinks and the endless bowl of chips and salsa. The chips are very fresh and the salsa just a nice hit of spice.
Our serve made sure our drinks were kept filled.
One of our party is gluten-free and asked if they had a gluten-free menu. Indeed they do, scan a qr code and it is on your phone. Very helpful.
Orders placed, chips refilled and it took some time. Our server let us know our order was delayed as they were taking precautions to prepare the gluten-free order.
The double burgers were huge and came with fries, a small salad or soup and drink. A good value. And tasty.
Two of us had the fajitas and they were excellent. Large platter with good food. A small plate with cheese and sour creak and some chopped tomatoes also came. Could have used more cheese
An enjoyable evening with good food never felt rushed.
A good place.
– The Big Smasher Burger – $11: Excellent! The burger is NOT a technical smash burger, though. It is WAY too thick to be called that. That said, that is the way I prefer burgers (thick). It was cooked a touch under medium and was perfect for my preferences.
The bun LOOKS like a disaster, but tastes very sweet and melts in the mouth. The thousand island dressing was an awesome addition and is why I deviated from my normal burger purchase. The cheese was melted nicely. The toppings were well balanced and fresh.
– Fries – (comes with burger): Medium to slightly thicker cut fries. A bit on the softer side and more slup, but cooked right. I devoured them.
– House Salad – (comes with 3 For Me special): Looks small, but has big flavor. It had a lot of toppings, especially cheese. It was not too much in my estimation, but you likely won’t complain about too few toppings.
For the record, I declined on getting a drink beyond water, though I could have at no extra cost with the lunch special.
– Service: Proactively helpful! I knew about the lunch special after my friend pointed it out, but evidently they had a better one and I got a salad due to the waiter’s recommendation that I would not have otherwise.
Their lunch specials are extremely good for value here. You get to pick a beverage, a starter, and an entree. All that costs $11! That’s a deal!
– Atmosphere: Casual Tex-Mex American restaurant. Family friendly and comfortable. The 70’s music was playing a bit loud and made conversation a bit difficult, but not too bad.
– Conclusion: I’d recommend it for sure for the value during lunch. Their Big Smasher Burger is excellent.
Visited on a Wednesday at 11am.
I ordered the “3 for me” which includes a drink (Dr. Pepper without ice) an appetizer and the entree.
We got the unlimited chips and salsa because I CRAVE Chili’s chips and salsa (that may have been the whole reason I wanted to go this time…) The chips are also perfection. They’re super thin, crispy and the right amount of salty. The salsa is perfectly blended to be smooth, but not soupy. It has exactly the right spice level and a little pop of lime to finish.
I chose the Cajun shrimp pasta as my entree. Now, let’s talk about this pasta… First off, the name is very deceiving. It should be called “Penne Alfredo with Cajun Shrimp”. A petty difference? Maybe, but there’s a reason the English language is so diverse. I wouldn’t have ordered it if I knew how bland and boring it was. The sauce is not Cajun. It is alfredo (and not a very good Alfredo. Almost more like a white base sauce). On top of the penne Alfredo were a few very delicious shrimp. There were a fair amount for the price and they were seasoned well. It was then garnished with some chopped green onions and tomatoes.
The temperature of the pasta was very inconsistent; one bite would be cold, the next almost burning my mouth.
This would be 100% better with a Cajun cream sauce, pasta that was a little less mushy and veggies actually mixed into the main dish, not just as a garnish.
When I heated up my leftovers, I added some milk to thin it down a bit and some bold Creole seasoning. It helped immensely.
He ordered a cup of loaded baked potato soup which he loved (I did not. Again, it was just bland and had no flavor.) he also got the Big QP burger. He said it was good and not overly sloppy like some burgers.
Our server was wonderful. She checked on us often enough if we needed something, but not too much.
The restaurant was clean, well-lit and seemed to run well.
Overall, I’ll probably go back, I will just order differently.
I also have to say, the last several times I’ve been to Chili’s I’ve been wow’d by the experience, so whoever is training these servers is doing a fantastic job!
