Y’all, let me tell you about this food spot I stumbled upon. I’m talkin’ about a hidden gem that’ll make your taste buds do the electric slide. If you’re craving some Southern soul food that tastes like your grandma made it, this place is the holy grail.

Parking is on the street just an FYI if parking is a concern for you. Arrived Friday at noon, wait was NOT long they have a great system in place to rotate people in and out. Now to the food….understand in my opinion this is soul foul with a twist. The flavors are not what you would except from a traditional grandma’s Thanksgiving meal. Everything was exceptional, be prepared for well seasoned and flavor rich food. The fish was perfectly fried to where it was not dry and let me mention again well seasoned. Let’s talk about this mac… I absolutely have no words to describe it besides your missing out. Coco green, not your traditional greens the flavors combined with coconut, whew chile who would have thought of such a thing and it turned out absolutely delicious.

Writing this review right after leaving. We’re headed to Houston and decided to stop in Nola to get some food. We found this place on TikTok and decided to try it out. The line was long at Chickens Kitchen but went by fairly quickly. When we got to the front the first person we saw behind the counter was a black male with hightop dreads, there was no greeting from him he looked like he didn’t want to be there, his agitation was growing as we asked questions about certain dishes, he had a real bad sassy dismissive attitude. Employees who are going to behave disgruntled in the work place need to stay home. People like him make you not want to support a black business and spend your money elsewhere. However, the woman next to him and at the register was pleasant and welcoming.

Absolutely the best soul food restaurant I’ve eaten in the New Orleans area in a long time. This place is definitely top 5, might just be #1. The food was really really good. I had the fried fish with the 5 star Mac, sweet potatoes and crawfish hush puppies. Again, fantastic 5 out of 5!!! I only wish that we were able to dine in.

I waited in line for 45 minutes. I got the Tuscan Chicken, pasta, Brussels sprouts, and crawfish hushpuppies. ALL of that was DELICIOUS!!! I didn’t care for the bread pudding. I think it was made with donuts. Some might like it. Just not me. All in all, I can’t wait to go back and try more things. Definitely worth the wait in line.
