1/2026 The consistency of good quality and delicious fried chicken/strips across multiple locations is a testament to this chain and it’s franchise operations. I have visited locations across Texas and they have all been superb. There is intense competition in the fried chicken market and everyone has a favorite. The real win here is thinking outside the bun, and knowing that whichever store you visit, it’s going to be fresh, crispy, golden, and delicious.
Some of their competition features either multiple flavors of “dipping sauces”, or just one (looking at you, Canes). CE has a delicious gravy, but their chicken is so good all by itself, seasoned to perfection, so you don’t even need the sauce/gravy.
If you venture elsewhere, try one of their chicken strips without any sauce. No really, I challenge you to do this. If the base product doesn’t stand on its own, and provide a delicious refreshment, why are you buying it? Would you spend $50 on a steak that you can’t even eat with out some sauce? At this point, you might as well save your money and just buy a case of sauce. Just spoon it in your mouth directly, because you’re not really tasting the core product, you’re just tasting the sauce. Don’t believe me? Test yourself with the challenge – skip the sauce. If you don’t savor the flavor of the core product, then you’re really just going for the sauce. I know it’s hard to believe, but try it, plain, just as it came out of the kitchen, the way the chef intended. And on the plus side, you’ll save some calories you really never needed to enjoy this delicious meal.

Am a frequent customer. Tea is excellent and always fresh, never sour. Excellent customer service. Elizabeth and her crew make a great team. The younger and newer employees are fast learners. Have not had a bad visit here, errors if any are made right.

I didn’t have time on my route to go back and get something else so I decided to leave a review. Ordered my food and the staff was nice enough. I didn’t check before I left because I eat at different chicken express locations all over from SA to Austin and it’s always been a great experience. So imagine my disappointment when I check my food and find probably the brownest, dirtiest, SOGGY and scrawny chicken breasts I’ve ever seen. No crispy golden chicken here! Bad enought that it looked less than appetizing it was dried like uts been out awhile and tasted of old oil. Made it half way through one piece before I trashed it. Definitely won’t be back to this location.

Glad when I order a four piece my “tenders” are smaller than a chicken nugget from McDonald’s. I understand raising your prices right now. But don’t do this to your customers. My side of mashed potatoes is bigger than all these tenders. I would not feel comfortable ripping people off this way.

This is the second time we have stopped by on our way out of town. This is also the second time we have thrown most of the food out as it was disgusting.
The people being the counter just look angry. I get it. You work fast food. However it’s a job you choose. Be happy you have a job and smile once in a while.
We ordered two chicken legs, and when we bit into them, they tasted like either the grease or the chicken were bad. They were disgusting. This is what you do. No matter if you are having a bad day or you hate your job, the customer should never see it. Plus, you are serving food. If I’m going through the drive-through, it may be 20 minutes before I get a chance to eat. It should be edible once I get to it. Take some pride in what you do, no matter what it is.
