I’ve been eating Chicken Delight since I was a kid — the kind of spot my grandfather would grab on those random days, and we’d bring it home to my grandma like we just hit the lotto .
Even now, every time I come back to Westwood to visit family, this place is still one of my first stops. Not because it tastes exactly the same as when I was little — it doesn’t — but the memory hits the same every time.
I always go straight for the chicken and fries. The chicken is hot, crispy, and comforting in that “I grew up on this” kind of way.
And the rolls? Still soft. Still doing what they need to do.
Their coleslaw and macaroni salad have always been my secret favorites — still some of the best around.
My grandparents loved the shrimp and ribs, so those were always on the table growing up even though I never ate them myself.
And the pizza? The second you open that door, the aroma hits you right in the face — warm, fresh, familiar. The kind of smell that drags your whole childhood back instantly.
We even had Chicken Delight at family gatherings and church events — that’s how deep it runs in our family story.

This is the place to go for fried chicken. They have been making it here for over 40 years and they are a cut above the usual fast food chicken places. There is only one small table and 3 chairs for customers because it is really a take-home chicken place.

Grew up chowing down at the “original” on 77th & Bline in NB. Let me tell you this joint has that original local vibe when u knew who was working behind the counter. Back in the day it was high school cheerleaders/ softball players and guys back from college delivering. It’s as good as it was from day one and the price point, no way you’re getting a better deal anywhere! Family deal 10 pieces chicken plus 2 sides bout $26.00. Additionally I was really taken back at the pizza they’re putting out. No joke, as a true pizza guy who has 5 go to spots that I have in my rotation, give it a shot. Super cool crew working this local spot. Hit this location up trust me.
