This place has been in the same location for years. Every Wednesday night I used to pick up their chicken liver or gizzards because they were cheaper that day. If you are not a local, or familiar with their ordering and paying procedure; you order at the food counter then procede to the cashier to pay… which is more streamlined because the food counter is preparing your order while you pay. It is clean and neat in food area and the dining area. They have specials on certain days that makes things interesting. I ordered the fish plate to go. I learned that if you Dine In, you get unlimited tartar sauce… however, if you order to go, condiments cost a nominal fee. Perhaps they should consider giving 2 portions to “dine in” so “to go” could receive 2 as well… obviously, dine in is pigging out! The tartar sauce could use a good splash of lemon juice, by my taste buds. All in all, it was a good experience and my husband and I were full and content with 1 order.

Every time I’m in Jacksonville, I have to stop by Chicken Country for the fried gizzards. I don’t go out that way often, but when I do, it’s a must.
The gizzards are always hot, fresh, and soft — never tough. I usually get a half pint or a pint, and they throw in a roll. It hits every time. It’s just one of those comfort food spots you crave.
I’ve also tried their peach cobbler, and it was really good too.
Customer service is always friendly — they greet you when you walk in, and it’s that down-home, country-style atmosphere. Simple, quick, and consistent.
If you like fried gizzards done right, this is the place.

Let’s start off by saying this isn’t the same hometown gem that it once was. The cone top gizzards that I used to get at a reasonable price are pitiful. You don’t get the cone top so you’ll get some mediocre gizzards depending on who’s coming them. The Mexican cornbread muffins that once was isn’t anymore, they are the size of a puffed out quarter. The sides…. Never get the greens!!!!! The Mac looked like it was swimming in water!!! I’ll still there.. MESSED UP THIS HIDDEN GEM SHOULD BE SHAME… THE PRICES DON’T MATCH THE QUALITY AT ALL.. THE CHICKEN STILL TASTE OKAY.. THE INSIDE NEEDS AN OVERHAUL… THIS PLACE BEEN IN JACKSONVILLE LONG ENOUGH AND HAS MADE ENOUGH MONEY TO UPGRADE THE INSIDE, AT LEAST THE PRICES FOR THE SHRINKFLATION FOOD COULD’VE!! IT’S SO DISAPPOINTING. IF YOU’RE GOING FOR CHICKEN ONLY YOU SHOULD BE GOOD. BE READY TO MAKE A WITHDRAWAL FROM THE BANK GOT A 3PC LOL .. THEY ARE CUTTING CORNERS BIG TIME.. SOMETIME PLEASE BRING THE OLD CC BACK WHEN THEY HAD THE COUPONS ON BACK OF THE KROGER RECEIPTS!!!!

Has changed A LOT over the years. Most of the food is canned and not homecooked like it was almost always done and known for. Fish is good but the raise of the prices of their food makes it almost ridiculous. Knowing you do less but charge more is crazy work. I haven’t been in consistently in years due to the many changes. 2023 is my last visit.

This place is very popular in the area for the chicken and livers. The food is very good but uou will be paying for the quality of the food and service and they havr great service, never Disappointed in the food or the service. 4 stars only because im very cheap and think it could be just alittle cheaper

I always loved going here and getting there cabbage but I want be going back. I paid almost $14 yesterday for cabbage and it was nasty. I called them and told them they said they would let there boss know today and they would call me I’m still waiting on the call. I don’t think they will call me. They have changed the way they make there cabbage and it isn’t good at all. They put something that’s a dark green color it looks like there adding collars they say it’s cabbage but it doesn’t taste like cabbage. I almost forgot we didn’t eat it we put it back in the cup. We couldn’t because the dark green pieces didn’t taste done.

excellent customer service excellent food my only issue. Was $30 for this sure I had some great food some of the best food I’ve ever ate but I don’t know if this is $30 you be the judge just for clarification. This was a popcorn chicken meal. a chicken gizzard meal. With two sweet teas. And two slices of pecan pie.

Normally very good. I ordered fish and the hushpuppies looked like they were cooked to fast. As soon as I bit into one it was raw and mushy on the inside and dark almost burnt looking on the outside. I would have went back but I had already made it home and it was about to storm.
