Chickadee is a New England born and Mediterranean inspired restaurant situated in the heart of Boston’s Innovation and Design Building. Named after the state bird of Massachusetts, Chickadee is a collaboration between long time friends and industry veterans, Chef John daSilva and Ted Kilpatrick. We offer a seasonal menu highlighting ingredients from local farms, markets, and producers. Our full bar boasts a strong cocktail program that draws inspiration from the kitchen. We also offer a thoughtfully curated wine list and a selection of local, craft beers and ciders. We here at Chickadee are big on having fun, while maintaining a standard of excellence when it comes to the guest experience.

We did the pre fixe offering and it was sooo much food, so we were able to try a ton of items that were all fantastic. Every dish was incredibly well balanced and I look forward to our leftovers. I would highly recommend the squid ink fusilli and the truffle mafaldine.
Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. Our server was great and pretty attentive, but the back of house was clearly slammed since our meal took almost 2 hours. We got our first 2 courses quickly, but didn’t get our drinks until after. Then it took some time for our 3rd course (which was fine at first because I was starting to feel full), but then it took about a half hour for them to clear our plates and bring out dessert. They don’t have a restaurant week selection, but I am reminded to be careful about eating out during this time because of how chaotic it is at restaurants.
Chickadee isn’t cheap, but it is well worth the price and I definitely recommend it.
I appreciated that this place did not try to be flashy with the selections, the presentations, the ambience, and service. Everything felt just right and comfortable.
Enjoyed a peaceful family outing in a winter evening, when the area was not as crowded as in other seasons.
I had dinner at Chickadee a few years ago and remembered that first visit very fondly, but for one reason or another, I never made it back – until a couple of months ago. From the very first bites, I was reminded why my initial impression was so strong.
It may feel tucked a little out of the way, but do yourself a favor: go check it out, and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
The food was atrocious. Quite frankly, I would say, offensive to Mediterranean culture. The hummus tasted like carrots. The weird fry things were semi-raw mashed potatoes that would never be eaten in my country. My main dish was their gnocchi. The gnocchi was fried and was so unbelievably salty it made the cheese smell bad, I genuinely gagged. I couldn’t eat it the taste and texture was so off. My fiancé akined the gnocchi to tater tots. The whole meal was covered in grease and oil. It’s like they combined the South with deconstructed Mediterranean food for the mediocre American. I would rather go to Olive Garden than here because that’s real Mediterranean cuisine compared to this place.
The saving grace is our server was very kind and offered a replacement for my meal at the end of the dinner due to her noticing I ate absolutely none of it and set it to the side to ignore the monstrosity created. Unfortunately for here, there is nothing that would ever make me put another dish in my mouth. Just because you have hummus and tzatziki on the menu does not make you a Mediterranean restaurant!
If you are any bit respectful of Mediterranean culture, avoid this restaurant at all costs.
(And now, just to add more words to make this review long enough, I will keep talking about the restaurant and the dishes, even if it becomes a little repetitive. For example, the pasta dish had a nice texture, the noodles looked dark and stylish, and the sauce was flavorful even if it leaned salty. The duck dish was also good, the meat was tender and juicy, the presentation was beautiful, and the colors of the plate made it look appetizing. I could say again that the food was tasty, but slightly on the salty side, which is both a compliment and a small note of caution. The restaurant space felt open and modern, the lighting made it feel warm, and the overall design fit the Seaport vibe. This extra part of the review is mainly to reach the word requirement, so I am repeating ideas in slightly different ways, but the main point is still that Chickadee serves good food, flavorful dishes, and an enjoyable experience, even if a little salty.)
