06/2025: RECENT UPDATE!! (5⭐)
First time back here in VB and this is the FIRST place I came! I STILL remembered after all this time how supernaturally AWESOME their pizza is. I like how they are innovative and hold great pride in the making of their food, particularly pizza! It is sooo refreshing to eat at a particular restaurant that doesn’t try to hype up their food by vicariously attaching their cuisine to a more famous brand or popular regional style.
Instead of claiming their pizza is the “best” version of someone else’s style of pizza (i.e. NJ/NYC-style, Chicago-style, Naples -style, Cali-style…). They don’t even try to claim those titles in relation to their own pies being the best in the local area (VB, Norfolk, Newport News, Hampton) or claim theirs is the local “standard”. They refuse to ride on the coattails of established classics, opting to become a standalone classic in their OWN right. They create and stand by their OWN creations. The cocktails are AMAZING & STRONG! They have an extensive drink menu and two bars (one inside and one on the outside porch where you can enjoy your pie when the weather permits). My boyfriend and I just came back from celebrating both our birthdays, we ate here 3 x’s—even though we were only in the area for 3 nights! I don’t know what kinda Voodoo they’re using in that kitchen, but I’m sure glad to find a pizza chain that hasn’t gone down in quality seemingly overnight. No need to name them, but we all know they’re a far cry from the pizza they produced in our 80s and 90s childhood years. The only type of pizza worth eating now are small, local mom-and-pop joints whose end product can ALSO be “hit or miss” @ x’s I was skeptical of eating from a pizza chain ever again, but I’m glad I gave Chico’s a chance. 5 years have passed since I first tasted their pizza and thank God they stayed true to themselves and refuse to betray loyal customers by changing or trying to keep up with trendy pop-culture cooking styles or unnecessary, hard to find exotic ingredients. Although their pizza is a unique distinction in itself, it is definitely considered a “CLASSIC” and follows in the same great traditions and standards that have almost completely disappeared. Even the atmosphere is the quintessential old school pizza joints of the 80s and 90s complete with darkened interior, flashy posters, iconic pop culture wall art (Wu-Tang memorabilia, skateboards, surf boards, sports flags & banners etc) and the ultimate 80s pastime —ARCADE GAMES! You can also try your luck at their gambling machines. Of course they had like literally almost a dozen giant televisions mounted to the walls where any sports known to man can be watched simultaneously.
Service was so incredible as well.
AWESOME thanks for not changing a thing!
Our meals were delicious and cooked perfectly, and the wait staff really showed that they care, as my meals were double-checked upon leaving. I will definitely be back!!!
PLEASE SUPPORT THIS LOCAL BUSINESS!
(I only gave the atmosphere 3 stars because it was Saturday night and the live band gave this old lady a headache )
Restaurant was not crowded, but took an hour to even receive our order with fries missing on both. When we asked our server about them, we were told they were bringing the entrees out first so food wouldn’t be cold and fries were on the way.
Food was mediocre at best. Overcooked chewy steak, burned bread, and completely bland & tasteless. Requested silverware which we never received. Fries came 20 minutes after food (and hour after ordering), one order still missing. Requested our sever to hold the other order. Fries were disgusting and looks & tastes like fryer oil had not been changed since lord knows how long.
We were compensated and our server did not charge for the fry order without being asked which was nice. Had to explain to my boss why I was late after lunch and it took a total of 1.5 hours to receive, consume, and pay for a nasty Philly steak.
So if you have hours for lunch & enjoy crappy food with mediocre service, then this is your place!
Used to be a strong customer of another location that closed recently. We will not be returning to this location if the food and service is consistently this poor.
The food was kinda cold when we got it and when we got home it was hardening up.
We ordered a pizza and some wings and it was so dry and kinda lacked flavor.
I’m a local so I was kinda sad.
And the service was so good so I really felt bad when the food was shit.
