Chi Spacca

  4.5 – 505 reviews   • Italian restaurant

Social Profile:

chi SPACCA was borne of the wildly-popular family-style salumi night dinners hosted weekly at Scuola di Pizza, the previous occupant of the chi SPACCA space. Enchanted by the artistry of Italian salumi culture, we built the first “dry cure” program in LA so that we could experiment and perfect Italian charcuterie techniques in house. The intimate dining room has a warm glow, with candlelit tables surrounded by walls lined with wine.

Meaty, upscale Italian fare from a trio of star chefs in a Tuscan atmosphere with worn-wood tables.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said? I hope whoever reads this accepts that the only take I can offer is that the beef and bone marrow pie might have been the most succulent savory dish I’ve had the privilege of eating. Accompanied by a rich bright broccoli dish, surprisingly interesting carrots, and weirdly the best onion rings I’ve had…this is very well the greatest meal I’ve ever had. Appetizers galore and a butterscotch pudding to end the night, I found myself depressed knowing my next meal would be a continental breakfast. I look back and cherish the bites, excited to come back and challenge my pallet once again.

This is one of the Chase Sapphire Reserve dining so we decided to give it a shot. The bone marrow pie and hanker steak was so good. The mashed potatoes were also perfectly creamy. Even the anchovies butter bread was a nice treat. I think my least favorite would be the carrots.

Service was excellent and the outdoor seating was a nice touch. I would come back here when I’m back in town.

Amazing service and excellent quality! Everything was smooth, professional, and delivered exactly as promised. The attention to detail really stood out, and it’s clear a lot of care goes into the work. Communication was quick and friendly, making the entire experience stress-free. I’m extremely satisfied and would happily recommend this to anyone looking for top-notch results.

This is a tapas type of restaurant I’d say. The biggest item was the cheese covered salad and the meat. The meat came last with onion rings. Everything was quite salty and this morning, my stomach is bubbling a bit. For $145 for one meat dish, I was a bit disappointed in the flavor. We ordered the Tomahawk. It was pork and still pink in the middle. I only ate a couple of slices because there was no side dish to drown out the saltiness. The service was good, they made sure we had water. I asked for tea which ended up being $6 for hot water and a tea bag. You will spend a lot of money here and I don’t really think it’s worth it.

I went to Osteria Mozza (which I really enjoyed) and thought Chi Spacca would be on the same level given the reputation—but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

I left genuinely disappointed by both the food and the service. The waitress was inattentive, bordering on rude. We were ignored multiple times, and there was no communication whatsoever about how long the steak would take, we would have ordered something else. For a place that prides itself on meat, you’d think they’d at least set expectations about timing.

When the food finally arrived, it didn’t live up to the hype. For the price point, I expected something memorable or at least well-executed, but that just wasn’t the case. I could not say that one thing was great. Zero flavor and the dishes are not well thought out.

That said, the decor and atmosphere were nicely done—the space itself is cozy and well-designed. But overall, the experience felt like a missed opportunity. With so many great restaurants in LA at this price point, I will not be back.

Food was amazing, unique selection of traditional rustic Italian dishes. The waiter was very knowledgeable and sincere. The cheesecake was the best I have ever had in my life.

Chi Spacca will always hold a special place in my heart—my now fiancé took me here for dinner right after he proposed! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, intimate, and welcoming. Our server was absolutely amazing—attentive, kind, and genuinely happy for us, which made the evening even more memorable. We shared several incredible dishes (the beef and bone marrow pie is a must!), and every bite was packed with flavor and care. It was the perfect spot to celebrate such a special moment in our lives. Can’t wait to come back and relive the magic.❤️

I have to come here at least once a year, its just so perfect! Everything on the menu is perfect even the warm Dates are perfect I had the tomahawk pork chop this time unfortunately I was so stuffed from eating everything else on the menu first that I hit the wall after about three anazing pieces. I of course took it home and enjoyed it for the rest of the week but before the chop we had the Focaccia di Recco that some day I just want to have as a meal, maybe two of them with the anchovie butter or the squash blossoms and dip the focaccia in the tomato sauce. Anyway sorry where was i oh yes we also had the Beef & Bone Marrow pie that is just a bunch of heaven wrapped in pastry we had the Grilled Squid with Jimmy Nardello peppers, ‘nduja that was amazing but as I said everything is amazing also an extensive wine list. In short you cant go wrong here its truly one of my favorite Restaurants on the planet well done everyone involved and oh our waiter was the best !!

Amazing high quality steak house. Came here for my birthday and got the porterhouse. Was cooked exactly how I like it and it was massive. My favorite part is to eat the bone and while I was doing it the chef came up and said it was such a compliment to see me eat the bone cause so many don’t. Really a great experience.

Exceptional. I travel and dine constantly…this is the best food and dining experience I’ve had in 2024. Full stop. Can I say exceptional again? Everything we had was delicious and differentiated. You can’t make a bad selection…you must try the tomahawk pork chop. The waiter was also on point and very knowledgeable. Look forward to returning the next time I am in LA.
