A true Parisian bistro gem.
I’ve been coming here for over a decade, and it’s still a highlight of every Paris trip.
The food is authentic and consistently delicious — frog legs, snails, and baba are my must-haves.
While the baba was already soaked in rum, they sit the whole bottle of rum for you to pour yourself if you want more alcohol Tell me another restaurant that does that
The wine list is extensive.
One note: portions are generous, so it’s best to share between two or three people.

Savoring a mouthwatering French roasted chicken was an unforgettable experience—each bite was perfectly seasoned and brimming with flavor. The thin, crispy fries that accompanied it were simply irresistible, adding a delightful crunch to the meal. To top off this culinary journey, we indulged in a heavenly dessert of berries and cream with sugar, that was the perfect sweet finish. A special shoutout to our fantastic waiter, Uttonda! His cheerful demeanor and attentive service truly made our evening one to remember.

I was quite hesitant to go to this restaurant based on the other reviews I read. I differ entirely from the negative reviews that have been posted. The food here is excellent. We had the escargot and frog legs to start. Then we had the quail and the roasted chicken. All of the dishes were truly outstanding. We had frog legs the night before at Taillevant so we have a good basis for comparison. The frog legs and everything else we had at L’Ami Louis was truly superior. We also had the salad at €35 and of course heaps of hot french fries, which were replenished with hotter french fries when we requested that. Yes, the prices are expensive, but the servings are enormous. One appetizer can easily serve four people and the same is true of the main courses. So, in fact, the prices are not expensive when you see what you get in terms of the portions and as I mentioned the quality. Outstanding. Our server was Rafa. He was fantastic. Responsive and pleasant. Every other staff member with whom we interacted was also polite and friendly and helpful. So I cannot account for the reviews that were negative. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, the value was there and the ambiance is exactly what you’re hoping for in a Parisian brasserie.

Look, it’s not cheap, it’s not for the uninitiated and it’s as French as it gets. But please understand the food is amazing. The frogs legs are a must, the confit canard is awesome, the foie gras epic (again understand it’s simple grandeur) and yes you might see me or some famous people there.

Hard to get the res but worth it, if you can manage. A 100 year-old institution and celeb magnet in Paris, only 12 tables, the chicken for two is the go to dish. Pro tip: skip lunch!

A 100-years old restaurant, which offers simple French staples, like chicken, duck and veal kidneys. Tremendous wine list. Large portions. Very high prices. Almost impossible to make a reservation for dinner, a little easier for lunch. 3.5 stars

The place is definitely charming with its atmosphere.

I heard a lot about the bad reception and service but they where super friendly to be honest ( made the booking through the hotel).

The food is focused around the “oven” most of the items are roasted in a rustic simple way.

We didn’t like the escargot that much (way too slimy)

The roast chicken was really amazing served with shoestring fries and a sharp salad

For the deserts we had a simple mixed ice cream which they all where well made.

It’s one of the best foie gras dishes I’ve ever had. The famous chicken, however, is somewhat overrated. The escargot is generously sized. On the downside, the waiter was a mix of rudeness and friendliness. The prices are quite steep, likely due to the restaurant’s long-standing reputation. While I appreciated the beautiful cuisine, I believe customers should be treated with more courtesy.

Food and environment are nice, but wasting all that food is terrible nowadays. Prices are very high, be careful!
