Ok. As I have now booked my table for the next 6 months. Feel safe to share.
So happy this lovely location has a new and improved fair, what can I said, it takes the food to the next level after the previous restaurant moved to pepper street.

Food was perfect. Wine to match and at a budget not to break the bank.

Happy to have found a new home in Chester

Ridiculously excellent food. Chez Francois is an authentic and high quality French bistro with a small menu that delivers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Beef Tartare and the Duck. Wine menu is also excellent. We had an amazing time and will be back ASAP!

An authentic slice of France in the heart of Chester. Classic dishes with a modern service. Everything we had was jam packed full of flavour. François recommended the duck and I’m so glad I listened, it was delicious. Can’t wait to visit again. Merci beaucoup!

Feel very lucky to have this restaurant nearby. Atmosphere was great, food was perfect and the wine and cocktails were gorgeous. Service was really good, and the staff looked after us consistently, even though we were there for over 3 hours and were the last to leave on a Saturday night. Will be taking friends and family there

It was wonderful to see Chez François finally opening on Music Hall Passage in the space vacated by Chef’s Table. This is another gem of a restaurant and is a remarkable addition to Chester’s dining scene. From the moment you enter, the bistro’s intimate ambiance and refined, understated elegance set the stage for an exceptional and sophisticated French culinary experience.

The menu is concise but impeccably curated. The Tartare de boeuf and the Magret de canard are outstanding, showcasing both precision and creativity, with each component thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented.

The wine list is equally impressive and excellent value for money. The service is pitch perfect, being attentive, professional – and timely!

We had an amazing time – great food, wine, service and ambiance. Look forward to our next visit.

Amazing find . Food to the highest quality . Delicious , Fresh and top quality . Service was amazing and attentive but not ‚too much’ like some places can be . The Chefs are definitely passionate about the food . Potential for Michalin . We will be back

Went for Sunday lunch (13:30). Had no booking, but they were able to accommodate me.
Service was attentive without being overbearing.
When I first saw the set menu, I was prepared to have 3 courses, but ended up only having 2 as was so full after starter and main.
I had the mussels to start, I had to ask for bread as the sauce was so delicious I didn’t want to waste it. Chose Duck as the main, cooked to perfection, all the small additions on the plate complemented the duck perfectly.
Very good wine list with a good choice available by the glass so you could match your wine with each course.

Will definitely be back.

First visit to this recently established French Resto with spouse and another couple. Limited menu was authentic and the focus meant all dishes we tried were sumptuous, especially the sauces. Very welcome addition to Chester’s culniary scene and will certainly be back. Service excellent, warm ambiance. Wines and Cremant hit the spot.

Its only recently opened, but we’ve eaten here twice now. Every dish has been excellent. The service is attentive. The wine list has a great range of beautiful French wines. The restaurant itself is small and intimate, and you can see the food being prepared.

There is a full menu available and on Wednesday to Saturday a smaller lunch menu, both are very good.

Great place to go to if you are looking for amazing French food in a nice setting.

Enjoyed a very good meal here with another couple on a midweek evening. Beef tartare and the duck both superb, the latter being arguably the best top end main course I’ve had in Chester in 8 years. Sadly the clafoutis and other puddings were poor – may have been end of service – but a disappointing end to an otherwise excellent meal. Service also very good and drinks are surprisingly well priced with a decent selection of wine bottles in the £20-£30 range. Food prices on the steep side at £45 for three courses – still would have been worth it if it wasn’t for the puds, though I’ll be heading back soon for lunch or Sunday which offer much better value. A good space, nicely busy, not too cramped but blasts of cold from the opening door a bit boorish. Overall a great addition to the Chester fine dining season with work to be done on puddings, though I guess could always have the cheese next time …
