We were looking forward to eating in this “French cuisine” restaurant, I myself am French, and after seeing the reviews and photos for this, had great expectations. We arrived and were very quickly seated as it was a quiet Tuesday evening. My partner and I both ordered a glass of wine and the “menu du terroir”, it was a short wait for the drinks, then the plateau charcuterie arrived soon after that. This was the first disappointment, the selection of meats was poor, considering this only takes preparation and good quality ingredients (though these were not good quality), a 14€ price cannot be justified. This could be forgiven as the next dish would be the tartiflette. Unfortunately, this one took 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive, and we were never approached by the server during this whole waiting time. When the tartiflette arrived, to be fair, it was fantastic, one of the best that I’ve eaten. As it was extremely filling however, we decided to ask if we could have our Paris-Brest desserts to go, which they were nice enough to do for us. This however took another 30 minutes to get done and paid for, and once we arrived home, immediately ate them. First, both Paris-Brest looked completely different, then I tasted mine and was very unimpressed by the taste, there was almost no crème pralinée, the chou was stale, but my partner’s was worse yet, the cream clearly tasting off and acidic. The Paris-Brest was the biggest disappointment as we had seen many photos of it beforehand. And all this came to the handsome price of 98€ (+ 2 bottles of water), so overall, I would recommend to look elsewhere if you want to eat some good French food.

Very nice restaurant. We were happy to find a French restaurant in Moabit, Berlin — and it even has a kids’ corner.

The waitress humming along to the French song playing in the background gave the place a lively and authentic feel, almost like being in France.

The menu has good portions at fair prices, which is not easy to find in other French restaurants.

Best quiche lorraine ever! Bœf bourguignon is a must have! And you’d be a fool to spip the crème brûlée!

A beautiful, charming and cute restaurant run by enthusiastic and passionate Chef Emil and his wife. Superb selection of French wine from small vineyards – one of the great assets of the menu – and home cooked meals with a detailed attention to your needs. We had the whole place to ourselves as we came in early, and loved learning more about this delicious place.

An absolute treat to dine here. The food was very hearty and felt like home cooked. Happened to be here on the opening night and the staff was very enthusiastic and friendly. There some minor delays with the food but that was made by the really generous energy of the servers and Chef Emil himself. Speaking of Emil, he is a lovely young chef who is surely destined to achieve genius status very soon as the dishes were on point and tasted really amazing! Would recommend this place to anyone who wants a three course meal that makes you feel like you are in a French village.

We visited in February 2023 for an anniversary, and we wanted to love it.

We were the only ones in the restaurant, so service was fast and polite. The owners are incredibly kind people and very eager. We wish them all the best – they (from my memory) have the potential to run a world-class establishment.

The food was pleasing, but for the price we paid, it unfortunately did not compare with other fine cuisine we’ve had (I don’t know the vocabulary, but it just wasn’t ‘quite’ there). I think with some careful balancing of the menu pairings, creating a more intentional ambience, and improving the plating/finish of food, they could do very well.

I hope to visit again, and look forward to all Emil does in the next few years! Thank you.

Chez Emil moved in a bigger cozy place in Berlin-Mitte.

I recommend the St.Jacques Mussels. Wine is also very good

Chez Emil is a hidden gem! As a native French person I can confirm that the food here is incredibly authentic and absolutely amazing. You can really taste the quality in every dish, as they use high-quality ingredients reminiscent of a traditional French kitchen. I highly recommend trying the beef bourguignon—it’s simply delicious!

The restaurant is family-owned by a lovely young family who truly care about their customers. I visited with my children, and they were very accommodating, providing high chairs and creating a welcoming environment for families. It was a delightful experience for all of us. We can’t wait to return! ♥️

5 stars and if I could give more I would. This is possibly the best french bistro I’ve ever been to. The food is sooooo delicious you would eat your fingers after it. The Tarte is also very delicious and the wine selection is very fine. Service is excellent and soooo very kind, the waitress was incredibly nice and always with a smile. Will surely come back!

One of my favourite French restaurants in Berlin with excellent and creative food at very reasonable prices. The old location was a bit more charming but this is still a nice neighbourhood bistro with seriously good French food. Plenty of vegetarian options.
