Chez Billy Sud is without a doubt my favorite spot in D.C. My first experience with this fine establishment was on my 1 year anniversary with my partner. The service we received was exceptional. We truly felt welcomed and cared for by our server, and the whole restaurant staff made clear they were grateful we chose to celebrate our anniversary with them through giving us a complimentary glass of prosecco and amuse-bouche. Moreover, the food was absolutely divine. Having lived in France when I was younger, I can be a little bit-picky about the quality of my French food. But the food at Chez Billy truly transported me back to the South of France. All in all, I have been to Chez Billy numerous times for special occasions with my partner and the service has always been exceptional and the food truly divine.

I highly recommend the French onion soup and Caesar salad to start and the the duck or the moules frites for your main course (and the boeuf bourguignon if you are dining there in winter). And you really can’t go wrong with any of the desserts.

Wandered around Georgetown for dinner with a friend. This place is walk-in friendly and cozy. The tables are close to one another.
We shared the pâté with bread – i really liked this! generous portion not too salty with a little bit of sweetness – paired great with the bread
My friend ordered the duck confit and I ordered the see bass. Both dishes highlighted the meat with right amount of oil – as in they are very rich and flavorful without being too greasy. I also added fries to my dish because I wanted to have fries at night.
A good and satisfying french place!

What a cute place with excellent service and the best duck I’ve ever had. Indoor area is very cozy with French bistro set up and lovely art on the walls. They also offer outdoor seating. The duck was supperb, I noticed the distinct way it was made and turns out it is prepared over 3 days with multiple steps, no wonder! It also came with great healthy sides of veggies including lentits, carrots and spinach. Onion soup was good but cheese was too soft for my taste.

Highly anticipated visit as I saw some reels on social media promoting this place. We had the salad with pork belly, escargot in puff pastry, steak tartare, omelette, burger, and steak frites. The escargot and steak frites are worth coming back for. I’ve had escargot at the most prestigious places in Paris and the ones here are really good. The omelette lacked flavor and steak tartare needs some work.

Not my favorite dining experience. The tables were placed so close together that it was hard not to be distracted by nearby conversations, which took away from the atmosphere.

The menu offered standard French fare. Our appetizers included the French onion soup, which my husband enjoyed, and the chicken pâté, which unfortunately lacked flavor and the accompanying jelly wasn’t great. For mains, the steak was not tender though the pommes frites themselves were excellent. The duck confit was flavorful but came out a little greasy.

The highlight of the evening was the service. Our waitress was very sweet, attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of, which we truly appreciated.

Seldom do reviews. However when exceptional service and hospitality is provided by the whole staff, those seen and not seen, need to be commended. A bridal brunch where every step of the way was personalized by the Event Staff. Agi, our personal attendant in event room, made sure everyone and everything ran smoothly. The ambiance and presentation was exceptional. An unforgettable afternoon for the bride to be , wedding party , parents and family. With much gratitude .

Delightful French restaurant in downtown DC! I got the Salmon as main dish, and it was perfection! Not overcooked, balanced flavor profile, and a sauce that complemented the fish perfectly.

Crème brûlée was the real deal! And I know as my father is a classically trained French chef, and I often order crème brûlée to try to find one that matches my father’s, and this one did!

Service was fantastic – very attentive! Food was delicious, but I’ve had more enjoyable versions of most of the items I tried. The pastry on top of the escargot and the riz au lait (rice pudding dessert) were my favorite. Cute outside patio!

I’ve been to Chez Billy Sud more times than I can count, and i would eat there every day if I could. I love everything about this place; food, service, and location. The sea bass and duck confit are my favorite dishes, in addition to the green and caesar salad. However, if you do order the duck confit, request for the sauce on the side instead of pouring it over the duck; this makes for a crispier duck skin and the staff is happy to accommodate.
The selection of wine by the glass is always varied and well crafted. The staff members are an absolute delight, with no exception.
Chez Billy does it right for a French bistro.

If I want to be critical though, I’d welcome change in the bread service that would offer a crispier baguette “bien cuite.”

The food was delicious — we started with tuna and their signature onion soup, planning to follow with their famous burgers and desserts. We were celebrating a colleague’s birthday, so I asked the waitress if they had something special for the birthday girl. She just laughed and replied, “Happy birthday, anything else after the starters?” — which came across as quite rude.

Because of that, we decided to skip the rest, asked for the check, and headed to Filomena instead. There, everything was wonderful — the food, the atmosphere, and especially the kindness of the staff.

In conclusion, Chez Billy is by far the worst place to celebrate a birthday.
