God-Thicc Pirate Guide Captain Loki Grogh (Capt. Loki Groggy)

You’ve got double reason to set sail for Burgess Falls, because your adventure ain’t complete without dropping anchor at Chestnut Oaks Farm Store & Kitchen!

This cozy red-barn country stop feels like stumbling into a treasure chest before (or after) the waterfalls. Part old-time country store, part soul-feeding farmhouse kitchen, it’s stocked like a pirate hold overflowing with delights: nick’nacks galore, locally made goodies, candies, fudge, jarred treats, and creamy Amish style ice cream that’ll make even the grumpiest sea-dog grin.

But the real prize is the food, with traditional Southern BBQ and farm-fresh fare done with love, precision, and that deep nostalgic flavor you can’t fake. Think juicy burgers from local beef, pulled pork piled high, smoky brisket, pimento-cheese magic, and classic sides that taste like grandma whispered blessings over them. Then seal the deal with peach cobbler or a scoop (or three) of homemade ice cream.

The crew here is as warm as a Tennessee summer sunset, the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, and it all sits conveniently along the Burgess Falls route, the perfect place to fuel up your crew, indulge your sweet tooth, and pocket a few country treasures before chasing waterfalls.

Verdict: A legendary roadside stop worthy of every traveler’s map. Come hungry, leave happy, and tell ’em a pirate sent ya. ✨

This is such a cute farm store/market and restaurant near Burgess Falls. Enjoyed lunch and little bit of shopping after our hike thru Burgess Falls. It was nice and cool inside after our hike. Make sure you go upstairs to see the Christmas village. Adorable!

Unique!

Food was good. Had the pulled pork sandwich meal with coleslaw and baked beans.

Pulled pork was tender and favorable, baked beans were seasoned well and quite good. Coleslaw was not that great in my opinion. Kinda bland. Did not try any deserts. They do have an ice cream bar with numerous flavors.

It’s an old barn with outside seating also. Also have some basic food staples for sale. Gift shop and niknakes for sale.

After a long day of hiking, this is the perfect place to recharge before hitting the road. The food is 10/10!!!!! We parked here and walked down to the falls. They sell farm fresh eggs, meats, ice cream, art, trinkets, and so much more!!!!!! The restaurant is extremely clean too. Wish I could rate this place 10000/10! The staff is awesome too!!!!

Let me preface this by saying how bad this has to be in order for me to leave a review. I placed a Togo order of chicken melt (sandwich only) a small chili and fried green tomatoes. While there my daughter got a kids scoop of ice cream. My total was almost $25. (5.95, 3.99, 3.99, 2.99) The “small chili” was so small I went back in to double check because no way they charge 4.00 for a SIDE of chili. And the lady on the phone when I ordered even asked small or a side. If this was the small I can’t even imagine what the side looks like. Chicken melt is mediocre, the chicken is like the thick deli meat you can get at Walmart. Not a chicken breast. Tomatoes were like rubber. I live 7 minutes from there so quality has nothing to do with time. But be sure to check your receipts, I would have but she grabbed it off the register, crumpled and tossed it without asking. I have a hungry child to worry about. It’s not worth the hoops I’d have to go through to get my money back. So hope they make the extra 10 bucks worth it, we’ll not be back. A very high tourist area so any tourists reading this, drive to sparta or Cookeville for a better meal.

The shop was very cute and decently priced. The baked potato my husband got was lacking flavor (and he’s not generally picky about flavoring/spicing up food). The grilled chicken sandwich was pretty atrocious as it was clearly a prepackaged/canned chicken with store bought sourdough and Kraft cheese. The best part of the meal was the pickle wedge… Sorry, I would not go back here for food.

Been going since it opened. Food is always excellent. Adding catfish to their menu on Fridays was a great move as their catfish is excellent! Brisket is amazing also! All the sides are so yummy as well.

Such an awesome place! The brisket sandwich is one of the best I’ve had. Everything about the brisket itself was 10/10 and then that homemade bbq sauce just takes it to another level fr! Not to mention how beautiful the property was and also they had super cute handmade gifts and local produce! The owner smokin the meats and makin the food hit is super cool and there was a golden retriever roaming around that was an absolute lovey dovey angel. All around such a memorable place! One of those spots that you would easily drive a couple hours to try again!

The atmosphere at this charming farm store in a converted barn was fantastic! Fresh milk and beef products are available as well as a good selection of ice cream and menu that is perfect for a light lunch. We had a Patty Melt and Brisket sandwich with a margarita key lime pie for desert. Every thing was good at a fair price. The pie was definitely our favorite. Complaint are minimal, the brisket didn’t have a smoked crust or flavor but there is a smoker behind the kitchen. I just didn’t see or taste the characteristics of smoked brisket. The service was good but seemed unorganized considering most of the menu is premade. Also only one stall in the restroom and the hikers from the near by falls were in a hurry to get their chance to use the restroom. I assume people preferred to use it instead of those provided at the falls. I was raised in Texas so brisket is a staple for me so I am a tough critic I know but it was still a decent sandwich and the bun was delicious. We really liked the charm and freshness of the this place a lot.

This place is great. I’ve eaten in a few times, and the food has always been great, and the service was friendly and prompt. I’ve gotten takeout several times and it’s been fresh and tasty. Tonight, I was there with a group Christmas party. We had a buffet of brisket, grilled chicken, baked beans, potato salad, slaw, and a couple desserts. The brisket was tender and yummy. The chicken was some of the best grilled chicken breast I’ve eaten. The baked beans were terrific, as were the rest of the sides. Highly recommend Chestnut Oaks!
