Came because I was told about this place by my sons girlfriend and she got my taste buds flowing. You come in and one side has tables and the other side of restaurant has booths. Very nice menu and we decided to get the sampler which comes with barbeque chicken, pulled pork, brisket, ribs, 3 sides which we got mac n cheese, collard greens, sweet potatoes and corn bread( Another dry item). You order up front and they bring it to you. This is a self serve restaurant. Was a nice amount of food for 2 people. I inquired about the ingredients because of my allergies and the worker had no problem going through it with me. To me there was just enough seasoning but for my daughter there wasn’t enough. The brisket was a tad dry but all the other meats weren’t bad. All the sides were good and even the corn bread. You can get the meats sauced up but asked for it on the side. One sauce had a kick. There was even enough food to take some home. I didn’t have any allergic reactions but my stomach got super bloated on the way home. Was a nice evening but not sure what bothered me but everything was tasty. Meal came to 53 bucks which included 2 drinks we added on.

Decent BBQ for our area. I ordered a 2 meat combo.I ordered brisket, and burnt ends. I couldn’t tell the which one was what though. (I kind of thought burnt ends were burnt to sort of melt the fat away. Both seemed pretty fatty.) But I am NOT a BBQ expert. So try it for yourself. OH YEAH… they have about 5 or 6 different BBQ sauces you can order. I tried peach today. It was quite good!

I came to Groton from Kansas City for business. I was craving barbecue and Chester’s was down the street from my hotel. I had a Chiefs fleece on and as soon as I walked in, the owner Skip, struck up a conversation with me about the Chiefs. It turns out that he lived in Kansas City for 14 years. Very nice guy and very good conversation about my hometown of Kansas City. I tried the brisket, burnt ends, ribs, chili, collard greens and cornbread. It was all really good! The sweet barbecue sauce reminded me of Kansas City barbecue, which has of course, the best barbecue in the world. This barbecue reminded me of Kansas City’s barbecue. As I stated, it was very good and I will definitely go back if I’m ever back in Groton. Thanks Skip!

Chester’s BBQ in Connecticut is a must-visit for barbecue lovers. From the tender Texas Beef Brisket to the flavorful mid-Atlantic pulled pork, every dish is a hit. The corned beef with mustard sauce, a crowd favorite, showcases their adaptability to customer feedback. The warm, family-owned atmosphere and the dedication of the Dugas family shine through, making every meal memorable.

Just passing through but lucky enough to find this place. Excellent BBQ with the fall off the bone ribs and brisket being our favorite. Excellent Mac and cheese side as well as corn niblets. Two types of sauces, sweet and tangy and both were good. Food came out very hot and ready to eat. Wish we lived closer as we would be regular customers.

We stopped here the Thursday before Labor Day weekend. We were on our way up to Rhode Island and wanted to stop here since it’s been a very long time when we last visited. As we walked in, we were greeted nicely at the counter and needed a few minutes to decide what we wanted. My partner chose the pulled chicken with a side of rice and beans, and that came with cornbread. I chose pulled pork with macaroni and cheese and baked beans and cornbread. We both asked for the sweeter sauce. The meat and all the sides except the macaroni and cheese were very good. The macaroni and cheese had absolutely zero flavor. It’s really not very hard to make tasty macaroni and cheese. You really should just take this off your menu. We will probably visit again in the future.

We had brisket, ribs, Mac n cheese, beans and it was all good! I really enjoyed the ribs with the sweet sauce. The cornbread is also such a staple.

So my only complaint was you guys used to do great burnt ends. And now you don’t! . It feels actually insulting to be serve something that you know what it should be and what it used to be, but it’s not anymore -And they hand it to you like oh here you go. ( Feels like sucker should be at the end of that sentence)

I was so disappointed last week when I went in and bought a pound of them for an hefty $25 and it was like Brisket simply cut up! Certainly not burnt in the way they used to be. I think you need to take a drive up to Oz n Bone Up in Colechester to know what burns really should be. That was a waste of 25 bucks.

The food otherwise tastes great, but the burnt end need a lot of work.

I’m adding a picture of a Half eaten portion OZnBones burnt ends-You can see they’re small and cubed and lots of fat! Please do better. I would much prefer to walk into your place then to have to drive up to Colchester.

One of the best CT BBQ joints. The service is always kind and friendly and the food is always piping hot and fresh. It’s a little deceiving for a BBQ spot to be tucked away in the corner of a shopping plaza, but once you step inside, the BBQ hits and it feels like you are down south.
