Visited for the first time due to the amazing reviews, initial impression was cozy, waitress wasn’t the best. We asked about the daily special bc it wasn’t listed on the menu, she could only tell me fish or shrimp and a guess on the price, didn’t offer to find out or anything so once she left I had to go back to the front and hunt down the chalk board my husband had seen just to find out on my own. We each ordered a special basket, I got the shrimp and he got the cat fish. Pod arrived quickly, looked and smelled amazing, we tried the cat fish first, it was absolutely amazing, great texture, light fluffy and moist inside, nice light crispy crust, fillets were the perfect size. The shrimp was also delicious, however in the second shrimp I noticed it had not been deveined or whatever it’s called when they leave the disgusting poop sack in tact and inside the shrimp, I busted open the last few and it was in them all, I understand some places do this but it’s not mentioned and I was grossed out so my food wasted. If I had known I would have gotten a different meal. Whatever we decided the food tasted okay for the most part and wouldn’t worry a lot. Once she brought the check we paid cash, change should have been 18.65. She brings back 18 due to a penny shortage?? Umm excuse me but that’s 2 quarters, a dime and nickel I’m supposed to get back and it’s damn near a whole dollar? So honestly, after that too I will probably never go back. Several things that should have been handled differently and just weren’t that ruined what could have been a good experience.

Now this is how you do it, Texas style! We ordered the catfish basket — the fish was fried to perfection and sweet to eat! The onion rings were just as amazing — golden, crispy, and honestly good enough to make a whole meal out of. The service was top-notch too — friendly, fast, and full of that good Texas charm. Great folks, great food, and great vibes all around. Can’t wait to come back!

If you’re craving Southern comfort done right, Cherry Creek Catfish delivers that no-nonsense, down-home flavor that keeps you coming back. The moment you walk in, you’re hit with the aroma of seasoned batter and fresh-fried goodness — the kind that tells you your plate is about to make you forget every diet you’ve ever attempted.

Catfish:
Golden, crisp, and fried to perfection. The breading has that ideal crunch without being greasy, and the fish inside stays tender and flaky. It’s the type of catfish that makes you close your eyes for a second bite just to savor it again.

Sides:
The hushpuppies are little pockets of heaven — sweet, warm, and with just enough crispness. The fries are simple but seasoned well, and the coleslaw brings a cool, creamy balance to the plate. Portion sizes? Generous enough to silence even the hungriest customer.

Service & Atmosphere:
Friendly, fast, and laid-back. It feels like the kind of spot where everyone knows someone, and even if they don’t know you yet, you’re still treated like family. The vibe is casual and comforting — exactly what you want from a catfish house.

Overall:
Cherry Creek Catfish is the kind of place you recommend without hesitation. Whether you’re in the mood for crispy catfish, hearty sides, or a meal that tastes like someone’s Southern grandmother cooked it with love, this spot doesn’t disappoint. Solid flavors, fair prices, and good people — that’s the recipe they’ve mastered.

After another day of exhausting but rewarding internships at Synopsys, I decided to reward myself with some delicious guilt-fried seafood at Cherry Creek Catfish on Menchaca Road. The moment I stepped in, the cozy, lived-in charm of the place hit me—a classic Texan diner vibe with red leather booths, neon beer signs, ceiling fans spinning lazily, and a wall decorated with vintage posters and fishing memorabilia. It’s the kind of joint where time slows down and conversation flows easily.

I ordered the fried shrimp and catfish combo, which arrived on a blue plate piled high with golden, crispy pieces that still somehow managed to be light and tender inside. Underneath hid a bed of thick-cut fries, and the meal was rounded out with creamy coleslaw, beans, ranch, and a zesty cocktail sauce. It was indulgent but satisfying—comfort food done right. The beans in particular surprised me with their smoky flavor, and the slaw added just the right amount of cool contrast.

Condiment options were generous, with a full caddy of hot sauces and other essentials on every table. The service was warm, the portions generous, and the whole experience left me full and happy. Cherry Creek Catfish knows what it does best—and does it without pretense.

Fabulous catfish dinners! My husband and I both had the 4 piece catfish special that I believe is available every day. It comes with two hush puppies and fries though I substituted for very yummy green beans. It’s a nice open space inside and our waitress was lovely and efficient. This was our first time here though we’ll definitely be back!

Had the lunch special, tried the onion rings, mac& cheese and fried cheese cake. Everything was delicious except the mac & cheese. It tasted like out of the box. Idk I expected a more homemade thick style of Mac & Cheese, but that’s just me. We had a party of 3 and total came out to around $60 bucks which isn’t pretty bad, IMO for appetizer, lunch, and dessert. Catfish tenders were pretty big. Must try the jalapeño tarter sauce if you want a spicy kick to the meal! Wish they had margaritas, only serves beer.

It’s been 3 years since the first time I had been here. The fried green tomatoes are my favorite!!! I ordered those and onion rings for apps. Had the fried steak with baked potato and green beans, gravy. I killed the green beans and just about finished the steak. I saved the potato for lunch the next day. My kids enjoyed the chicken fingers with fries. Comes with gravy. My son had the fish tacos. Absolutely recommend!!

I have always loved this place. We live north, so we dont get here often enough. I met up with a dear friend of mine, and we had a great enjoyable time talking. The waitress laughed at my jokes, a good thing. The catfish was extraordinary and in the picture. You don’t see them, but there’s 3 Hush Puppies down in there, and they are really, really good. The onion rings were a side dish, and they were very good. My buddy had a fish plate with a couple of sides, and yeah, he really enjoyed it. He also got the peach cobbler with ice cream on it, and I gotta bite. It was really good. It’s got a unique interior decoration. The chairs are good, solid, and kind of like home tables that a lot of our group had growing up.
It’s just absolutely fantastic. They don’t have a buffet, but they do have on the catfish and the shrimp, where you could pick six, ten, or twelve pieces. I just had six, and I was stuffed. It was great..

I am extremely disappointed with my recent visit. I hadn’t been here in years, and this used to be one of my favorite places. Sadly, since the previous owner passed away, it feels like the quality and atmosphere have gone downhill.
The service was very rude and unprofessional. Our waitress made us feel like we were a burden every time we asked for something, as if she was annoyed to have to go back and forth. At one point, when we walked toward the restroom, we overheard staff members talking about us, complaining that we were taking too long to leave. They were also speaking negatively about another table. Hearing staff openly talk badly about customers was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional.
To make matters worse, my mac and cheese was served cold. I chose not to ask for it to be reheated because the waitress already seemed irritated and unapproachable.
There were two Hispanic women working — one with glasses and a raspy voice, and another who was thin with curly hair. I don’t recall their names, but they appear to have worked there for years.
This experience was very disappointing, especially because this place used to be known for great service and a welcoming atmosphere. I truly hope management takes this seriously and addresses the customer service issues, because the current environment is not a good reflection of what this restaurant once was.

The fish was so good , and the shrimp too. This was my first time eating here, and it did not disappoint. I felt like I was in Louisiana because the food had so much flavor . Will definitely come again soon.
