The food was excellent, the prices were great, and the employees were incredibly friendly. I will definitely be ordering from them again, and possibly often!

They charge you more at the register then on the menu, I pointed that out to the waitress this morning and she tried to lie and say it included tax. It did not, there is tax also charged (see photos). So then she says she can’t change it, and still charged me the higher rate. When I took pictures as proof she said “Oh yeah take pictures to rat us out.” Well, yes I will because its wrong and you are being sneaky to do this to people because most won’t notice until they are done eating. There food is good but you can’t be charging more at the register, that is sneaky and wrong even if its only a little per person, it still adds up. I have also forwarded the complaint to the Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate.

If you want a good home cooked breakfast, this is it. It was so good I forgot to take a picture of my meal before eating some. Oops. I would classify the pancake as magical, and the home fries as excellent. The eggs and sausage were cooked perfectly. Very reasonable prices also. We will come back here.

Beware on Saturdays you cannot split the bill. Also there is a 20% gratuity added for parties of 4 or more. The waitress forgot food items ordered. We had to ask other staff to get them. When it came time to pay she told us the total and swiped our card. After looking at the receipt we saw there was a $25 tip included. If you tell us one price and we pay, then we see the receipt for a completely different price that isn’t right. She shrugged us off when we made her aware of our concerns. She pointed to a sign where she claims the info was posted and it did not mention anything about gratuity. She was rude after she collected our money and acted like we didn’t exist. Don’t trust them with payment until you see the receipt. Also, they tell you the prices on the menu aren’t what they charge and to look at the TV posted in the restaurant. Isn’t that false advertisement?!?

Cherries diner is a 5 star diner experience! The food came out fast, not only was it absolutely delicious but a huge portion as well. We were served by Cherry herself who was very warm and accommodating to our meal substations. If we’re ever back in Pittsburgh we will be back at Cherries diner!

Food was decent. What was horrible is the communication and customer service. 4 of us went for breakfast on a Saturday and first of all the prices on the menu are incorrect. At the end of our meal, we were told that on weekends they do not split the bill. A visible sign upon entering needs to state this policy, not a small handwritten sign by the cash register that will not be seen by those who sit down and eat because you pay at the table. We were told the total at the table but not provided an itemized check, and when the waitress swiped the card, she tipped herself 30% gratuity without telling us that she was going to. When confronted, she said it is a policy for parties of 4 or more and was very dismissive of our concern. This “policy” is not posted anywhere in the establishment. I called my bank and disputed the $25 that she tipped herself. This establishment is sneaky and dishonest. I suggest going to City Works for breakfast.

The hidden treasure of our trip to Pittsburgh. Throwback “greasy spoon.” One of the most delicious omelets I have had in years. Literally. Delicious coffee.

That woman who takes your order will definitely add whatever she wants for her TIP without informing you. She also will charge you a different price than the menu. She claims there’s a sign by the register but if you come in and sit down you’ll never see it. WATCH YOUR TOTALS BECAUSE SHE IS ADDING WHATEVER SHE THINKS YOUR TIP SHOULD BE WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT. I’ve already reported her to every authority I can think of

THEIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Waitress tells you a different price that she charges you. I believe she added a 30 percent tip and didn’t tell us at all. Lucky we asked for a receipt!!!!!!! We were visiting from maryland and they didn’t give a great impression. We dispute the 30% tip because she is a thief! Food is ok but not worth getting robbed!

I ordered the early bird special. This will be the last time I eat their breakfast. The eggs tasted rubbery and bacon was old and left a bad taste in my mouth. The home fries tasted old as well. I ordered an English muffin and it was soggy. I was going to take the food back but last time the I seen a person complain the owner yelled at them and demanded they leave. I wanted to avoid that cuz if he would go off on me I would of thrown that food every where. But I digress . I paid 16 bucks for my food. The quality should of been way better. That’s my last time giving them my money.
