Got the sesame chicken with shrimp fried rice. Good amount of shrimp in the rice. Chicken was cooked well. They now accept credit/debit/tap to pay through Square!!!!

To the owners… worst ever we ever had.
It seems your efforts were there. The difference between a mediocre product and a great product is attention to detail .Unfortunately ,after we tasted your food, we had to dump everything in the garbage. Your lobster fried rice had NO lobster,amount other stuff. We tipped very well hoping to have a good meal. PLEASE step your game up. You’re in an amazing area. Be the best.. I will visit in 3 months to review again. Love Penn Yan!

Great price for quality food and very generous portions. Came here for a quick lunch (it’s take-out only) and it was ready in 15 mins. I checked out the bookstore across the street and went back with it being ready in no time. Awesome place. Gotta recommend the sesame chicken – my fave!

Very good typical food. Hot and sour soup was excellent. Very large walk in takeout order took 35 minutes during peak hours. Many others remembered to order ahead and had their orders waiting for them. Literally a mom and pop operation. Cash only works for us.

I used to love this restaurant! Today was the first time we ordered in a long time. The food was terrible and no one ate it. Never had issues before today. The restaurant even smelled really bad inside. So I called. I told her I could bring it back, but she refused to refund and came up with all excuses why it might not have tasted good like “we waited too long to eat it”. I don’t know, but I guess we won’t be going back there.

This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. There is no web presence that provides necessary information. So the fact that they are cash only isn’t info that is available until after you have ordered and you walked in the door. Our order was placed via phone, and the woman was barely able to understand what we wanted.
We were told it would be ready in 35 minutes. I walked in the door 30 minutes later, waited at the counter for 10 minutes before I was even acknowledged, then told they couldn’t find my order. Back to the truck to get my phone, call the person that called in the order, then back inside to provide the info. 10 more minutes waiting at the counter. She then told me that my order would be ready in 10-15 minutes and asks for the money. I tell her that I will pay when I get the food.
At this point its been about 50 minutes since the order was placed, so their estimate of 35 minutes was way off. I sit down and wait, I talk to a couple of others that had been there longer than me, one guy had been waiting 45 minutes already. An additional 30 minutes goes by. She puts a bag of food on the counter and says my order is ready. I go and pay, text the family that I finally got food, but then she gives the bag to some one else. It wasn’t my order, my food still isn’t done. It’s ready she says, as I watch them take the food off the flame and start to dish it out. I can see that it’s not ready, 5 more minutes before I get handed my food.
Order called in at 6 PM. I had food in my hands at 7:35 AND IT WAS AWEFUL. The service was bad, the food was bad, and they are still in the 1980’s and not taking debit. Why would I ever go back.

Food was good. Told 30 minutes and waited an additional 30 minutes. Social distancing was okay. Main complaint was the wait, if they had told me an hour, it would have been fine, I just wouldn’t have arrived as early.
Tried again, this time ordered for 7:15 before 6. Arrived at 7:15, they hadn’t started cooking my food. No point in ordering from them. Second best Chinese place in a town with 2 Chinese restaurants, and the service is atrocious. They also don’t take credit cards.

This place used to be so good! Recently, something has been off with them. The customer service is TERRIBLE! They told my parents that their food would be ready in 10 minutes, but they waited more than an hour for their food because they forgot about their order. Then today, I see a post on FB from a friend about how her chicken yesterday was raw and pink and they wouldn’t offer her a refund or to cook the food again. Last time I ate here, my family had the same problem.

We’ve been remodeling a home in the city for the past month and have revisited Chen Garden at least twice a week for the past few months. We brought our family there tonight and as usual service was outstanding and the food , as always, is consistently good. It’s always clean, the lighting is perfect and allows you to relax. stellar drinks -zombie and scorpion bowls are a favorite.
