I absolutely loved my visit to Chennai Cafe, but a quick tip for anyone using Google Maps: the navigation tends to lead you into the office garage behind the lot, so I recommend putting “Princess Pita” in your GPS instead, as the cafe is located right next to it. Once you find it, the experience is fantastic, starting with customer service (10/10) that is truly top-tier. The food was a highlight of my day, specifically the Sada Dosa (10/10), the Kheer (10/10), and a perfectly brewed Filter Coffee (10/10) that hit all the right notes. I also really enjoyed the Idli (9/10) and the Onion Bhaji (8/10). While the Medu Vada (7/10), Masala Dosa (7/10), Sambhar (7/10), and Chutney (7/10) were all good, the standout items and the welcoming staff made this a memorable meal. This is a must-visit spot for authentic flavors—just remember that navigation hack!

Chennai Cafe in Tempe is honestly one of the best places I have found for authentic South Indian food. The food tastes very homely, fresh, and full of flavor, which makes the whole experience really comforting and satisfying.
The buffet has a great variety of both vegetarian and non vegetarian options, so there is something for everyone. The rasam really stood out to me. It was perfectly balanced and incredibly comforting, just like homemade rasam. The dosas were fresh, crispy, and very flavorful.
One of my favorite dishes was the parottha with veg korma and Chettinad chicken curry. It was rich, aromatic, and packed with authentic spices. You can truly tell that the food is made with care and attention to traditional flavors.
We finished our meal with mango kulfi, which is made in house, and it was absolutely delicious and refreshing. It was the perfect sweet ending to a wonderful meal.
Overall, the food, freshness, authenticity, and variety make Chennai Cafe a place I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves South Indian cuisine or wants to try it for the first time.

Chennai Cafe is a great spot in Tempe if you’re craving authentic South Indian food, especially vegetarian options.
I initially went in planning to order just idli and vada, but on Saturday morning/afternoon they offer only a buffet and do not take individual orders during that time.
The buffet costs around $22 including taxes, and it is definitely worth the price.
You can order freshly made masala dosa, plain dosa, and ghee dosa, along with other items available as part of the buffet.
The food was fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. Everything tasted good, but the rasam stood out — it was especially delicious and authentic.
Even if you’re strictly vegetarian, the buffet offers enough variety to make it a very satisfying meal. The quality and taste justify the price.
The restaurant is located in a convenient area with plenty of parking, and the dining space is clean, well maintained, and hygienic.
Service was good, and staff were attentive and helpful throughout the visit.
Overall, Chennai Cafe is a solid choice for South Indian vegetarian food in Tempe, and the weekend buffet is a good value if you want to try multiple dishes in one visit.

Tried the lunch buffet at Chennai Cafe today and really enjoyed it. The mutton dum, rasam, sambar, chicken curry and masala Dosa were the highlights for me. Simple, tasty, and satisfying. Definitely a good spot for non-veg lovers!

Decent food quality and unwelcoming staff. We went on a Saturday morning to have breakfast. The staff didnt seem to care alot because we didnt go for the buffet. We ordered an idly Vada combo and a mysore masala dosa. The Vada was crispy while the idly was hard as rock. The mysore masala dosa was really good and can fill two people. The red chutney that comes with the dosa was really good. I also ordered a filter coffee which was not at all like filter coffee to be honest.

We placed a catering order for 110 people for the AZ Konkani picnic, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious and truly felt like a wholesome, homemade meal. Everything was delivered right on time and very well organized.
A special mention to Narmada for doing an outstanding job with communication; right from helping us choose the right food items to guiding us on quantities and coordinating the delivery seamlessly. Her attention to detail and support made the entire process smooth and stress-free. Highly recommend Chennai Cafe!!

This is truly the best restaurant in Phoenix. The food is always so fresh and full of flavor. Every time I eat here, the food comes out hot and perfect, and it leaves me feeling happy and peaceful afterward. I think it’s the special spices and the high quality of the ingredients that make it feel that way. I come here often, and I get excited every single time. The lunch buffet is also incredible – so many tasty options to enjoy!

Food was yummy. Service was good and the servers were always around when needed. Both veg snd non-veg items tasted good. Dosa, coffee and mango kulfi were a cherry on top.
Hope they continue to serve and maintain the quality.

Delicious food, spice levels are mild and kid friendly, and the hosts are very welcoming. We stopped here during our trip to Phoenix, and were very happy with all the items we had. Kari Dosa is a highlight- loved it! Filter coffee was good too. We also loved the malabar parota with chettinad chicken. Kids loved the chocolate dosa. Highly recommend if you are in the area and craving fresh, tasty, mild spicy Indian food in a welcoming atmosphere.
