All the way back in 1955, the four sons of an immigrant millworker decided to take a chance. They opened a restaurant on Cumberland’s bustling Mendon Road with nothing to their names other than a shared dream and vision – fresh and local ingredients, prompt and friendly service, all to be had at an unbeatable value. While times change, our values don’t. As a third generation, family owned and operated company, our food is still made fresh in our commissary 7 days a week and delivered to each of our locations daily . Same ingredients, same recipes, same classic food that Rhode Islanders have come to know and love since our grandfathers first opened our doors nearly 70 years ago!

Was my sister and my 1st time there. Are server Selina was awesome. She was polite and very professional . Told us everything was good. My sister got the sirloin tips. I got the pene alfredo with chicken and broccoli both plates were big my sister and I got served half of each other’s we wanted to share each other’s meals are server Selina was her idea to do that we just asked for 2 extra plates

A GREAT PLACE TO EAT!!! Both my wife and I had lobster rolls. I had mine warm with butter and wife had hers cold with mayonnaise. They were both delicious but wife’s had a little too much mayo to her liking. French Fries and Cole Slaw delicious! Loved our waitress Elsa who was FANTASTIC!!!

We like Chelo’s for their stuffies, clam cakes, and white chowder. In my opinion, they make the best. The stuffies are packed with flavor and don’t taste like ‘Thanksgiving,’ like many places do. Nice creamy chowder. Decent clam cakes. For dessert, we love a CHUDGE (the name cracks us up, it’s also just super fun to share). We also had their pistachio cake, which was good but lacking in pistachio flavor. ‘Gansetts (beer) is cheap – great place for beers and apps with friends. They carry Yacht Club soda (BIRCH is the best flavor). For dinner, however, we find the entrees quality to be pretty mid. Similar to an Applebees or Chilis. Not impressed with our burgers, sandwiches, or salads. The baked scrod I had once was an absolute mess – goopy, soggy, and almost impossible to find the fish. Prices are reasonable and it’s definitely a family-friendly, casual setting. Service is usually good except when they get slammed (parking can actually get full when they are super busy). I’ve only had one weird experience with a server, who brought up their politics and conspiracy theories unprovoked. Other than that, it’s not a bad place if you’re not expecting a whole lot.

I went to this Chelo’s at around 7:30 on a Wednesday night. I should have turned around as soon as I walked in. The noise from the bar was extreme. The problem was that the bar was in the middle of the restaurant. There was no escaping the noise. My meal was okay. The service was quite good. Despite this, I will not be returning. I did not like eating dinner in a circus atmosphere.

Went here for the first time in maybe 15 years for the RI Food Fights big burger blowout and it was better than I remember. The burger was good. Not life changing but slightly better than a typical sit down chain restaurant. The $2 drafts and $3 margaritas are a good reason to come back.

The service is always good here! The steak was quite plain. Definitely well done – how we ordered it but no seasoning. My daughter was putting salt and pepper on it for flavor. I would not order the steak tips salad or steak here again.

Was there on Monday and we had the best experience we’ve ever had there. The other guests were nice to us. The service was the best. Bella our waitress was attentive and friendly. I don’t think we’ve ever had such a great experience prior. And all the food was delicious. Finished everything and took home dessert. It would be wonderful to have such an experience every visit

Food was really mediocre tasting. From the appetizers to the stale crumbly bread on the burgers. Chicken tenders weren’t crispy or flavorful, sauces were generic, no seasoning, and the frozen almond drink was super watery, yuck. All the while, the food was pretty pricey.
Update: After going again, food was a lot better, although, we didn’t get the burgers or drinks this time.

The clam cakes aka fritters were good. The shrimp scampi was okay. Atmosphere was really nice. Personally it was just okay to me but place was busy and everyone was enjoying themselves. Definitely a local favorite. I would recommend.

Our 1st time here, the lighting inside need to be dimmed or changes to a yellowish color , that will make it a really nice dine in area,chicken Caesar salad, quesadilla, mozzarella sticks, the steak and the steak tips plates are really really good! The lobster role it is big and fresh but i should’ve told them i want it hot not cold didnt like it at all , service is great and they are all friendly and nice.
