The food was standard Americanized Mexican. More authentic Mexican than some restaurants. It was great and the service was attentive.

My friend and I stopped in for a late lunch. We were immediately seated once we entered. Our drink orders were promptly taken, but we wanted to take a look at the menu before we decided what to eat. In the meantime, chips and salsa were provided and with our request of flour tortillas. I believe you may order flour or corn tortillas, or both if you prefer. The salsa was so good, and I was pleasantly surprised that it seemed a little hotter or more spicy than usual. I of course ordered steak fajitas with rice and beans and my friend ordered a plate with a couple different items, enchilada being one of them. I also ordered a Modelo with salt and lime (in a frosty goblet-my fave!) Our meals were brought to the table so quickly, we couldn’t have waited more than ten minutes, tops. I really must say Chelino’s was SO ON POINT on every level that day. The refried beans were cheesy and savory, the rice was fluffy and delicious- not clumpy at all. The steak fajitas were seared to PERFECTION. I told my friend that it was THE BEST MEAL that I have had dining out in a LONG time- shoot, I can’t name another better if you asked. I was honestly amazed and impressed by the entirety of our dining experience that day. 5 stars! 10 of 10 DEFINITELY RECOMMEND! GET YOUR BEHIND to the Chelino’s on Portland and 16th PRONTO because if your haven’t eaten a meal here, you are MISSING OUT! Thank me later. And kudos to the staff at Chelino’s! You guys are clearly knockin’ ’em outta the park! I will be back as soon as I possibly can… Next time I’ll make sure and take food photos .

Im very confused by these reviews. Maybe I mistakenly chose the zero seasoning option because real Mexican food or at least most Mexican restaurants use spices and seasonings like cumin, oregano, garlic, ground chiles, coriander or even just salt and pepper, but there was none in my whole order! It was all so tasteless and bland and I had a pretty decent sized order! The chicken from my nachos was dry and overcooked and seemed to be baked with the nacho chips and it was all just a big block. The queso was definitely canned cheese product and was very clumpy with no flavor at all absolutely not real cheese. The fajitas were tasteless with no seasoning and everything seemed to just be steamed or boiled even the peppers and onions and I didn’t see not even a speck of pepper or any other seasoning on any of it! The “habanera salsa” was also watery and had no heat whatsoever! It was all bad and I wasted $60+. I feel bad to leave this review but I feel like they’ve made some bad decisions with the way they cook this food. Im a truck driver so I’ve had Mexican food all over the country and this is definitely at the bottom of a very long list of restaurants Ive had. Sorry but I don’t recommend.

OK, here it is I wasn’t a fan of chelinos haven’t been in in many yrs. Reason many yrs ago they were good but then they grew got bigger and quality changed. So today to my surprise the food was really good, huge portion servings. Service was amazing, place could use a face lift but I say chelinos is back on my radar.

We should have turned around a left. The place is a mess. Chairs are torn up you actually can cut yourself from the old torn vinyl seating, the tables are old and worn.I won’t even describe the flooring. The menu is so confusing with so many items you know the food is not fresh and one item can be named 10 different things. Why do they feel the need to have 50 plus dinners? It would take you an hour to thoroughly read menu. I had cheese enchiladas and the covered it with hot dog chili (think Hormel) it was terrible! Food was not good, a frozen Mexican dinner would have been better. We just felt the place would not pass any type of inspection if one came up. I would recommend just keep driving to another Chelinos or anyplace just not this one.

The food was full of flavor. The chips were not burnt or over crispy. Great choice in frying the chips! The queso is none I have ever tried before. It was good. I ordered the chicken fajita nachos. I received a large plate of nachos with refried beans, and 2 types of shredded cheeses with a scoop of sour cream and a scoop of guacamole. Thank you for the genuine hospitality.

It’s cheap, like you’re proper full when you finish your meal and you ain’t spend that much money. For 2 lunch specials and 2 desserts it only cost me 23$ or something around that.

The queso is a bit watery but it’s complimentary with chips so who cares about that. The service is good, the food is cheap and tasty. Overall a solid spot. It doesn’t quite hit the same way like places closer to the border but it’s still good for Oklahoma!

The chimichanga is actually reasonably sized and won’t leave ya feeling sick after finishing it. Overall this place is great, come by if ya want some cheap good mexican food
