I know this place is a wonderful spot but waited for service last time for 20 minutes and nobody came. So we left cash on the table for the coffee we did get when we sat down and that was the last encouragement

Let me start by saying $10 for a side salad two black olives and 4 croutons on iceberg. The two eggs on my Benedict were both different one to over raw and one almost good. Cool old school vibe though.

I really enjoy the food and atmosphere and typically give a 20% to 25% tip. At times when it’s busy however, some staff continue to dramatize over what they expect for a tip. This seems to be an ongoing distraction and common to most local establishments.

This is a true legit one off local diner. I sat at the bar and enjoyed a coffee and blueberry pancakes.

This was a surprising find. I’d driven by it for years thinking it was a down-and-out kind of place, but it’s really quite good. I’ve been for breakfast twice. Friendly staff, good selection, roomy. An old-fashioned eatery.

We had a group of 11 and they handled all of us quickly and were very welcoming and friendly. Our food arrived quickly and they cleared the table quickly when we were finished.
I love this place. The biscuits are fantastic!

Regular diner. I like the retro booths and counter. It’s a quiet cafe where you can eat with a friend. They have normal breakfast choices, giant pancakes, and good portions of meat. Service is fine but sometimes feels like people don’t want to be there.

Having grown up in West Seattle it is surprising I have never eaten at the Chelan Cafe! I finally got the chance when I joined my parents and my sister’s family there on Valentine’s Day for lunch. I was a tad worried because I have celiac and it can be a challenge to eat out safely. Our waiter Erica went above and beyond to make sure my veggie omelet was safe and delicious. I loved the atmosphere there with all the Seattle themed art and it is so bright and inviting with all the windows. Erica was knowledgeable, kind and very good at her job. I was also impressed with Arnie and Chendo. They were very kind and attentive. We were given a kind goodbye from either the manager or owner – I wish I would have had time to find that out before we left.
I have driven by the Chelan Cafe for so many years and am so glad I now know why it is a West Seattle institution! I highly recommend checking them out.

Love this hole in the wall. I’ve drove past it every day for the last two years finally stopped in on a Sunday to eat great food they close at 2 PM on Sunday, but it was well worth it. Cool artwork all over the walls. Just a neat little place underneath!the west Seattle bridge.
