2nd visit: Dominic was busy so we got a different server.

The new server with long ponytail dude was not very professional. He took off before we finished ordering the food. He ignored us everytime he walked past our table. We tried to tell him that we have a flight to catch, but he does not seemed to care, not until after my husband got upset.

When the food finally came, everything was good except the mango salad, it had 1 long dirty blond hair in it. We wanted to tell our server but he didn’t even bother to stop by. We don’t want to miss our flight so we just paid and left.

1st visit:
Awesome place to eat good Cajun and Creole food outside of the French quarter.

We were served by Dominic. The place was packed. Dominic was crazily busy but he was nice and Friendly.

crab cakes – perfectly seared and crisped on the outside, soft on the inside.

Shrimp and mango salad- loved the combo.

Jambalaya- the smoked sausage that came with it was on a salty side but flavorful and delicious.

Classic seafood Gumbo – very good

Southern Fried chicken- crispy and juicy. On the salty side but DA fam loved it. We got 3 additional pieces to share.

Catfish w/ crawfish Etouffee- yummy

Sides:
Mac N cheese – nice garlicky flavor, just perfect.

Collard greens – got a vinegar kick. Loved it

Grilled Vegetables- very good flavor

Desserts:
Bread pudding- yummy! Dominic walked up and said ‘do you want bread pudding for dessert? We only have 1 piece left’? We couldn’t scream YES fast enough. Thanks you, Dominic.

Highly recommended.

3/7/26. This is the gonto place for real Cajun food. I traveled 35 minutes to try Chef Ron’s Gumbo. It was just as expected. The seafood Gumbo was delicious, and the pecan pie was excellent. If your in the neighborhood stop by and check out Chef Ron’s Gumbo.

I was really disappointed as I read a lot of good reviews. We got the gumbo, shrimp po boy, jambalaya, potato salad and macaroni and cheese. The jambalaya needed to be heated up as it was barely room temperature but very spicy and pretty good! The gumbo temperature came out okay not as hot as I would have liked it but I would say it was pretty good gumbo if you like okra. I had one piece of chicken and I think one piece of sausage in the whole gumbo. shrimp poor boy had some of the best French bread ever with six shrimp on half a po boy although they were decent sized shrimp. The potato salad did not have much of a taste and was kind of dry. The atmosphere is nice since they renovated. The most disappointing part was the service we got when we walked through the door. The host walked right up where do you want to sit sit here or the bar no personality came right up as soon as we sat down gave us our menus and wanted to take the order as soon as we sat down. Having never been there before we said we needed a minute to look at the menu cuz we’ve never been there before. Not a place I would go back to.

Quiet little hole-in-the-wall restaurant, away from the bustle of the downtown area. The service was great. The prices are fare. The food was… bland for a better lack of term? I’ve never had gumbo in my life. First time ever tasting gumbo, and I really wasn’t impressed. It tasted like there wasn’t and seasonings or spice in it. Plus it was lukewarm, as if the food had been sitting on the counter for awhile before serving. I really wanted to like the food because the guys were nice and their service was great. I know gumbo isn’t supposed to taste like this.

Amazing food. Everything was hot and flavorful. Enjoyed the boudin balls, seafood gumbo, crawfish etouffee, chicken Jefferson, and desserts. If you aren’t sure which dessert to go with pick the bread pudding.

Good food, quick service, and reasonable prices for what you get. Location is a bit challenging to get to because of the freeway cutting off roads, and definitely not a place that encourages lingering, but if you want a quick and filling meal this is a great option.

The food was awesome. The boudin balls were full of flavor and perfectly crisp. The gumbo was full of flavor and the catfish in the stuffed gumbo was well seasoned. Huge shout out to Jimmy our waiter, he was friendly and insightful with our seating due to needing a high chair for our 9 month old. I never had an empty drink for more than a few seconds. He checked on us enough to be sure we didn’t need anything without being to in our face. Go eat here asap!

This place is top notch, everything we ate was great! I had the mumbo gumbo & shrimp po boy with a side of potato salad, all awesome! I also ordered red beans and rice with sausage and a side of jambalaya to go, both of those dishes were awesome as well! My friend got the Blackened chicken pasta, he said it was really good. We started with two orders of boudin balls, they are probably the best I’ve ever had. Try this place and thank me later

Chef Ron started with a small store and has expanded to three timestamp the size for a reason. He did a crawfish risotto for me once that is still the best dish I have ever had. I recently drove 5 hours from galveston to have dinner there and it was fantastic. Great flavors and true creole cooking. Crab cakes are crunchy and full of crab along with the sauce it’s incredible. The euteffe is another must have there.
