Chef Darrell’s Mountain Diner is a fantastic restaurant located in Blue Mountain Lake, NY. For those fans of diners this place does not disappoint. This is a Silk City Diner that was built over 75 years ago! There is a great retro atmosphere here.
Food portions here are huge and the food is great! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served here. The menu is wide and varied and uses the best ingredients. Prices are reasonable.
Depending on when you go, it can get crowded here, but that’s because it’s good. When the weather is nice you can eat outside here. This is easily one of the best restaurants in the region. Great food and friendly service are all here. Try it out!

Fun vibes, friendly service and yummy eats. Really liked the seasonings and tons of sweets options – cake, pie, ice cream and cinnamon rolls. Can’t wait to come back!

A stop at Chef Darrell’s for breakfast following a family trip to the Adirondacks has become an annual tradition. They got all the classic breakfast staples that you would find at a diner (as well as a few surprises, like shrimp & grits and chicken fried steak). Chef Darrell has always been there to welcome us in and invite us back after our meal. The service is attentive and efficient and the food always provides the comfort and satisfaction we’re looking for before we head back to the real world. Looking forward to my next stop next year!

Don’t go here.
We went on a Thursday at 1:30, and I was hoping that maybe it was just bad timing, but I believe now it was the staff/waitress.
We did not get to meet Cheff Darrell like so many others have, but we did see his nice white Corevette in the parking lot.
The run down of our visit is as follows…
We entered and got ushered to a dirty table. Upon sitting down the waitress sprayed our table, and us with cleaner and wiped it. We looked past it and checked the menu and found what we wanted. When it came time to order things got complicated. Our waitress didn’t understand English, or the menu. My boyfriend wanted a special listed on the board at the front door, the Maple Belgian Breakfast Sandwich, and had to say each word 3 times, and the waitress looked at the menu, didn’t not see it and shook her head. He told her it was a special written on the board, and had to repeate it another time. I asked for the Veggie Burger and asked what is on it, to which she replied “I don’t know. I’m not from here.” I asked if there is lettuce, tomatoes, onion, etc. she shook her head and shrugged her shoulders. I asked if I could have the cheese sauce (that is listen on the menu for other items) for my fries. This was the biggest mistake of my day. We discussed this substitution for a full minute as I tried to explain what I meant, and felt I had made myself clear after pointing to the menu and reading the description of what I was looking for, with her looking closely with me.
While we waited for our food, we got no coffee refills. Which kinda sucks because it was a very small sad cup of coffee for nearly $3.
When the food came, my boyfriend received what he ordered, and that is the only saving grace here. My veggie burger was paired with a tiny slice of tomato and 1 piece of limp, floppy lettuce. I asked for a side of mayo, had to repeate myself and say ‘mayonnaise’ and gesture the size I was looking for, and still was looked at as if I was an alien. When she returned with the mayo she brought the fries, served in a tiny cast iron skillet and covered in shredded cheese, and also burnt. The fries had been cooked in old oil and left an old fried-fish flavor in my mouth, my boyfriend confirmed this after trying it himself.
We were never visited again by this young lady. Instead we ate our food and watched her try to seat patrons at dirty tables still covered in dishes. I also saw her seat a couple at the bar and spray them as they sat, like she did to us. The woman wanted an ice cream sundae, which was unfathomable apparently, and she had to go ask the kitchen if that was ok. She ignored customers trying to pay their bills, and told one lady who wanted to order take out to wait outside, and never went back to her.

Something must have changed recently because the food looked good in reviews, but the reviews themselves have plummeted lately, and I understand why. It was a waste of time and money. The food was not amazing and was overpriced. The shirts he is trying to sell (as if this place is a fan favorite, or worth coming back to) were also extremely overpriced. I wish we left as soon as we got sprayed. Darrylls nice car parked outside was a reminder of why the food was so expensive.

Chef Darrel’s Mountain diner is one of the best places to eat in the area. We were there for breakfast and the food was great! I had Chicken fried steak with sausage gravy, eggs, home fries and toast. It was delicious and the steak was tender enough to cut with a fork. The diner also has a full bar for the lunch or dinner crowd. The diner became extremely busy during our visit and the waitresses were struggling to keep up with coffee refills etc. Not a big deal except to let you know how busy it gets. Chef Darrell did visit the patrons to make sure everyone was satisfied with their meals. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough if you are in the area.

This diner has the best home fries I’ve ever had. They are soft, yet crunchy, firm, yet soft, and seasoned to perfection. I would sacrifice my first born for the recipe. The lumberjack special had it all – and in the perfect ratio. Multiple meat and sausage options. This place was busy on a Sunday brunch time, yet no wait. We were served food less than 10 minutes from ordering, and the coffee never stopped flowing. I would go out my way to come here again. Everyone was friendly. Truly nothing could be better. Indoor booth seating, outdoor cover seating. The take tap to pay. Chef Darrell, you have my heart.

This is an exceptional diner both in atmosphere and quality of food. They have a wonderful menu and an awesome mix between comfort and refinement with the items they have on both the regular menu and the specials.

Everything was good, but the chicken and waffles were absolutely insane. The most tender piece of fried chicken I’ve had on light fluffy waffles.

We stopped here after a long day in old forge. It was exceptional. Chef Darell came out to us when we got there to greet us and our kids were so happy. They raved about the food and service all night. And loved the arcade. They said it was the best spaghetti ever. We had a burger and shrimp pasta and were so satisfied. Our kids asked chef once he came out again to open a restaurant two hours away where we live and told him how much they loved his food. He bought ice cream for all 3 of our girls. I could not recomend this restaurant enough and we will definetly make the drive back.
