Beyond the food, the atmosphere completely makes the experience. The open kitchen brings so much energy to the room. Every table was full, music was playing, the space felt alive and somehow it still felt intimate enough to easily talk and actually hear my partner. That balance is rare and they nail it.
We sat at the chef’s counter and I absolutely loved watching the kitchen in motion. Seeing the team move and then tasting the dishes as they came out made it even more special.
The focaccia was phenomenal. The pasta with their bolognese was rich. The pizza was my personal favorite perfectly balanced and beautifully executed. And the crostata? Eyes-rolling-to-the-back-of-my-head good.
Absolutely incredible. No notes.
We came to Che Fico for Sunday brunch and it was incredible — easily one of the best meals I’ve had in San Francisco. The whole experience felt welcoming and familiar, like being part of something special.
We started with the focaccia — warm, soft, and subtly sweet with apple, caramel glaze, mascarpone, and wildflower honey. The perfect opener: comforting, fragrant, and beautifully balanced.
Drinks were a highlight too — the Tramanto (Pathfinder, candied orange, thyme, citrus) was bright and refreshing, and the Luigi Giordano Brut Nature Rosé added just the right sparkle.
For mains, we had the Prosciutto Cotto e Uova (poached egg, prosciutto, heirloom tomato, hollandaise) and Uova in Purgatorio (arrabiata, torpedo onion, sunshine yolk, ciabatta). Both were layered, flavorful, and plated with care.
We finished with the maritozzo — a brioche filled with ricotta, pomegranate, candied citrus, and orange blossom. Light, creamy, and the perfect finale.
Every dish felt intentional and made with love. Excellent service, gorgeous space, and food worth remembering. Can’t wait to go back.
As an IPA lover, I ordered the Barebottle West Coast IPA, but it wasn’t really my taste. That said, it’s an Italian restaurant, so I’m not taking any points off for the beer selection.
For dessert, I had the chocolate budino, which was just okay—nothing special.
Overall, a solid dining experience with excellent fresh-made pasta and pizza.
Standouts: Lasagna Verde (literally wish we had more of it), Chicoria Cesare, Orechiette, and Torta di Formaggio (that cheesecake with passion fruit curd).
A must-visit spot in San Francisco for anyone who appreciates great Italian food done right.
Music was a bit loud, made it a bit challenging to have a conversation. Friendly staff.
