The atmosphere is warm, romantic, and inviting — perfect for a special night out. We were also treated to live music, which made the evening feel even more special.
We started with a couple of glasses of wine and some appetizers — the Kansas City Mac & Cheese, Farm to Market bread, lobster bisque, and The Raphael salad — all were absolutely delicious. For our entrées, we had the filet mignon, herb-crusted lamb chops, and lobster bucatini pasta. Each dish was beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and cooked to perfection.
We ended with the warm peach cobbler, which was the perfect sweet touch to an incredible meal.
The food, service, and ambiance were all top-notch. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the evening.
If you’re looking for a romantic, upscale dining experience in Kansas City, Chaz on the Plaza is a must-visit. It’s officially one of our favorite date-night spots in the city!

I’ve always wanted to stay at the Raphael Hotel, and I finally decided to do it this year, from November 1st to November 3rd, for my birthday, although it was a weekend after. I’m so glad I did. I had breakfast there both mornings, and everything was absolutely delicious.
On the first day, I ordered the lox bagel, and you could tell the salmon was incredibly fresh. They give you plenty of cream cheese, and the capers take the flavor to another level. The second morning, I tried the steak and eggs (made with short rib), and it was excellent. I got full fast, but it made the perfect leftover breakfast the next day; the steak was even better after the seasonings had set in.
I arrived just a few minutes after breakfast service ended, but the host went out of their way to ask the kitchen if they could still accommodate me, and they happily did. We sat by the window on the southeast corner, right across from the InterContinental Hotel. It was relaxing watching the cars and people passing by.
If you’re looking for a great breakfast or a good dinner, definitely stop by Chaz. You don’t have to stay at the hotel to enjoy the restaurant; pull into the parking garage, let them know you’re there for Chaz, and they’ll buzz you in.
Whoever the chef is, he is fantastic, and my server was on top of it, definitely five stars from me, without a doubt.
SERVICE: Each time or waiter was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Alive with personally and focused on making sure your dining experience is exceptional. Not only able to make recommendations but able to explain each dish, it’s origins, and suggest perfect pairings. The service alone is worth coming for
FOOD: The food is exceptional! Make it a point to try the chefs “mushrooms of the day” you cannot go wrong. We have yet to order anything that was not prepared to perfection and the flavor profiles are remarkable. Skipping a dessert is a BIG mistake.
DRINK: Home of one of my two most favored drinks in KC: The Hazy Haden. The glass comes out over a small burner to fill it with smoke and then you add Basil Hayden at your leisure. An experience and a delight
ATMOSPHERE: Very charming, quaint and romantic. It’s easy to feel like the only people in a completely full restaurant.
This place is a genuine 10/10.
