Went here with my entire family for a birthday dinner for sister in law. We were seated right away. We notice a live band person was setting up to play music. The waitress was not as attentive to our table as she had long periods without coming to our table. The manager went to other tables to check on customers but neglected the biggest table in the room us. The food was very very good and came out hot and fresh. It did take a little longer than I would have like for my food but when it did come out if was delicious. The waitress had us wait over 10 min to put a drink order in. We ordered alcoholic drinks and she forgot them twice. We asked her when 15-20 min past and we didn’t get a drink. She said shoot i forgot was said yes you did. She eventually bought the first set of drinks out. We ordered refills on our alcoholic beverage but they never came out. We are and paid for our meals and drinks still never came. We reminded her when we asked for the check and told her nevermind we wanted it with our meal but we done eating. Outside of the waitress the place was a very nice spot to eat at and hear music while you eat. Will come back just don’t want that waitress. And if you like using silverware you won’t get any here. Plastic forks and spoon in plastic with napkins is all you get. Still was able to eat but beautiful plates but Plastic utensils.

Food was amazing. So glad to have stumbled upon this restaurant. I had catfish, collards, and macaroni and cheese. My friend had the same but with potato salad, which was , and the yams. We both got cornbread which was amazing also. The sweet tea was very delicious. Being from the south, it’s hard to find places that actually know how to make it. We will definitely be back again and again.

We had a large party go here for brunch and every one of us gives it 5 stars. The one dish that stands out the most is definitely the yams! they are sweet and delicious. Our server was great, even though there was a lot of us, she treated us very well. We had chicken wings, shrimp, liver and onions, fish, sausage and rice, turkey wings, pork chops and corn bead. Simply delicious. I will go back here any day of the week! Can’t wait to try more dishes.

The food was delicious. What I had anyways was delicious. The cabbage didn’t look like much, but it was so good. I loved the cabbage. I love the cornbread muffins. I love the sweet potatoes that I had the shrimp that I got was good. The crab cake was good. I didn’t really care for the two wings I had but The burger, the cheddar burger with bacon juicy. It was good!

I clicked on the review app before I even got my food because I was just that impressed with the service and vibe. Isyss made our experience wonderful from the minute we walk through the door. But the hostess and even a bartenders all had smiles and we’re all welcoming. Now the food… It took a minute to write this because I could not get my face out of the plate. SSOOOO GOOD! I had the catfish with cabbage mac and cheese and an extra side of mashed potatoes and gravy my husband had the catfish with yams macaroni and cheese. I wanted to order the collards but it had turkey meat in it, however as I was stepping outside to take a picture there was a young lady coming back in and she was acting one of the cooks was he the one to make the greens. So when I asked her where they that good she said she had not left the parking lot yet she sampled The Greens in the parking lot and remained to eat all the greens so she had to come back in for a second order. I asked Ms Isyss for a small sample with just a few of the leaves just to taste and I should not have done that…straight MISSILE!! Everything was prepared perfectly everything was delicious I don’t even eat yams but I tasted a sample of my husband’s and they were not too sweet they were not mushy, just good. We will be back a lot. Oh get the cornbread-thank me later

Where shall I start… if you’re in the Portsmouth VA area this is a total recommend. The food is 10/5. The service was great. Kia was completely awesome. We ordered turkey wings and gravy and 2 orders of ribs. The ribs were fall off the bone delicious, they were smothered in bbq sauce which made them less than warm. Still delicious. The gravy on the turkey wing needed a little more flavor but they were just as delicious. The sides were Mac and cheese, collard greens, green beans, yams, corn bread and potato salad, which I had to get the next day 🙁 but it was delicious as well. Kia was amazing, she played along with my shenanigans. I told her that someone else was paying for our meal, and there was no one in the place except us. Suddenly a waitress come from what we thought was an empty booth. At the moment it was hilarious. I only drink water so I can’t share how the drinks were but my girls were with me and they enjoyed their Arnold Palmer and lemonade. Overall we had a great experience at Charm and Manners.

Went in for restaurant week to try something new. I’m being nice by giving 2 stars because the food actually taste decent. but 1st off, they were out of SO MUCH STUFF! Mind u it was shortly have 6, and it wasn’t even busy yet!!! Drinks and food! No desserts as advertised except Oreos. Service was trash. The girls all had attitudes(all but 1). Had to ask multiple times for a refill, asked for condiments and clearly she forgot to even bring that. The food wasn’t even HOT after waiting so long for food and i went with my family and we all got food at different times. I mean they were even out of chicken tenders when it was the only protein they offer on the kids menu. Unfortunately i will not be going back and i won’t be telling anyone to go here either.

It’s in a cute area of Portsmouth, the hostess was ok. The wait staff seemed to be attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. I tried three different dishes they were all delicious! The French 75 was so good. Definitely going back.

The food was absolutely delicious! We will def be coming back again and again! Our server was attentive and so sweet to us. I ordered grilled turkey chops with collards and mashed potatoes, onions and gravy. My husband ordered fried turkey chops with potatoe salad, and string beans. He also ordered liver, rice, onions and gravy. Y’all have to stop by and try their food! You won’t be disappointed!

Ordered 5 shrimp and only got 4. Told the waitress and she said they will be remade. Waited an hour to get the order of shrimp. Shrimp and wings came out but no condiments or napkins. Patiently waited 10 minutes before having to get up and ask because we didn’t get checked on the whole time til we said we said we will just take everything else to go (guessing she only cares about a tip?). Came back asking if we want to pay before the rest of our food was even out lol. She said ok well your fried chicken will be out .. mind you got fried fish not chicken. So we just took off everything that didn’t come out yet , paid and left. Super slow, inconsiderate and unorganized. Bathroom had no tissue either, went early in the day and waitress said they were out of basically anything we asked for like collard greens, cornbread, yams and a mixed drink on the menu. Basic stuff a soul food place should have. This is laughable.
