Charlies has been our go to place since he opened. I just call him Charlie, the guy who owns it. He’s always been nice & our order is always correct & to perfection.If there’s not enough salt people complain, too much they complain, just add your own salt. Plenty of condiments are in each box & their Chuckwagon plate & Hamburger Steak plate are great. Add gravy & onions to the Hamb St, really good. All these years since Charlie’s opened, we’ve never had a complaint.

This a family owned made to order. They try to make sure everything is right. I’ve seen the poor girl behind the counter treated badly, because she has no control of which order comes out first & the kitchen is just trying to get the food out fast. This is a made to order restaurant, not a fast food. They try to get the food out fast tho. The quality of everything I have eaten here is great. I love the double quarter pound burger with all onion rings. Lot of food on that plate. It also has a drive thru, but the owner of the building refuses to fix anything for Charlie’s.(The drive thru menu is burnt and hard to read)They rent the building.

I have eaten inside but usually we are in a hurry and Charlie’s is so great from taking our orders, payments and getting our food out to us in a timely matter and if course has our order correct every single time I don’t normally write reviews but I had to for Charlie’s since there is really no other place like them ANYWHERE in Spartanburg. They have places to eat from that both serve chicken sandwiches just like they do but I’m telling you their chicken finger wrap is to die for. Something about how those fingers don’t have chewy rubbery pieces or grissel/tendin pieces. Each bite is literally heaven. The way the chicken, tomatoes, lettuce, and mayo all roll together in that flour tortilla the best messy experience I have ever had. I don’t ever eat chicken since I started raising them myself but I literally cannot pass up their chicken finger wrap whenever we order from Charlie’s. Plus they have one person (a sweet girl) running the front of the house while there is only one or two guys cooking in the back and their vibe is always flowing so we’ll that it works every single time. They always have a long line in the drive thru yet they don’t make you wait long, not ride or short with you they are always kind and patient. The other chicken restaurants on either side of them could take a lesson out of their playbook.

Blandest food I ever had the gyro was unsalted tasted of pre frozen gyro meat and then they put some white sauce that wasn’t tahini and then the onion rings were on the same boat all I tasted was unsalted unseasoned batter and lord only knows how old the onions were because they just tasted so horrible only saving grace was the double cheeseburger but I had to use the 1 salt and pepper packet to make it taste good overall I won’t be going back my expectations were shattered ♂️

Everything tasted old and reheated. Fried things were refried to the point of dry and burnt. Quote from my daughter “The fries are good so long as they aren’t in your mouth for too long.” Do not recommend.

Charlie’s is one of those small local places. The owner takes pride in how he treats his customers. The food is that southern cooking that just brings you comfort. The atmosphere is not Charming but the food more than makes up for that, overall it is a good place to get Great Southern food.
