Social Profile:

The first Charlie’s Chili opened for business on Balboa Island during the summer of 1967 and quickly became a hit. In 1972, we moved from the bay to the Newport Pier, and that’s where we’ve been ever since. Home to the world-famous chili cheese omelet and gorgeous beachfront views, we’re a local landmark and a favorite spot for people from all over. Regulars come in for their weekly bloody Mary fix. Vacationers come to watch surfers ride the waves. Families come in to take advantage of our dog-friendly dining and all-day breakfast. Basically, we offer a little something for everybody. So come hang out with us, and let us treat you to a home-cooked meal served up the SoCal way.

Serving causal Mexican-American eats, this almost-on-the beach spot is popular with beach bums.

Charlie’s Chili in Newport Beach, where their claim to, “Possibly have the best chili omelet in the world,” is written right on the wall outside. It’s the perfect spot to sit outside and enjoy the amazing SoCal weather while enjoying anything on their extensive menu that is sure to make your day bright! This local favorite is a classic Newport destination if you want great food, friendly service, and an amazing view of the pier and ocean!

Great place for breakfast. This place has a long history in Newport, having celebrated a recent 50 year anniversary. We came in for breakfast with a large group and the experience was outstanding. Service was great and the food delicious. I had to get the signature chili cheese omelet and it did not disappoint. Will return again for another great breakfast in NPB.

Nikki server was absolutely awesome and had fun with us while talking about the menu and drinks. The food was, really good. The chili and cornbread meal with salad was perfect! The turkey sandwich was epic flavor overall. And the fish and chips with tarter was soo good!!! And the char on the burger patty was one the best flavors. I will come here next time I’m in the area.

We stopped after our walk on the beach and had lunch out on the patio. Our plates were the Huevos Rancheros, Surfers Burrito with Charrizo, Chicken Ceasar Salad, a house salad and the Storm Island Combo with cole slaw all with a tasty Bloody Mary. All plates were of good portion and gave us a full belly. I would definitely like to go back next time I’m in the area. Our little group is from New Mexico and Washington state.

Recommended by friends and close to our beach house we tried this for brunch. The chili omelette had so many good ingredients and flavors. It was definitely over the top but in a good way. The French Toast came highly recommended. It has a great crispy crust on the outside with a touch of buttermilk flavor. I think it they are exceptional especially fresh and with warm butter and syrup. They were super friendly and helpful. Great food. Try it for your beach breakfast.

Loved this place as a kid and still love it as an old man. Try the deluxe Charlie’s Chili omelette! Outdoor tables are great for a nice breakfast with the sea air wafting past your nose. This place can get busy but you still get great service. Highly recommended.

If I was to imagine a basic a#% chili, this would be it. Was it bad? No, but if you’re going to name your restaurant after the chili, please make it exceptional. It was just meat and beans. Add some peppers or something. The corn bread was also more like a gritty pound cake, and not a traditional cornbread. But they give you a large slice. Too expensive for a bowl of chili
