I saw this story in my news feed about Charlie’s Cafe had the “best” cinnamon rolls in Minnesota. So, of course, I had to find out on my own OH BOY!!! It was well worth the 2 hour drive up 94 East to Freeport, MN!! Not only were the rolls the most scrumptious ever, we tried both the frosted and the caramel rolls, but the food was just as awesome!!! And served HOT!!! Our waitress, I can’t remember her name, was amazing and friendly! I highly recommend Charlie’s Cafe as a MUST GO TO spot!!!

We stopped at Cafe Charlie’s on a whim. The morning after our wedding driving through rural Minnesota we googled breakfast near me and this popped up. I am SO impressed. The omelettes were delicious, toast was perfect, hash browns were perfect, and of course the Carmel roll was on point. This place was CLEAN which for small town cafes was impressive. The ceiling, floors, everything was dust and grime free. The waitress was kind and did her job well. This place is a hidden gem.

What an adorable cafe in a cute town! The service was excellent and the staff was very polite. I ordered off the German menu and I am sure glad I did! The sauerbraten was so good, great flavor, the beef roast was so tender! Of course I always love a helping of spatzle and they definitely served a hearty portion. The potato pancake was great and I appreciated they served it with apple sauce. Really glad I pulled over and stopped for a bite to eat! I got a lot of food for a small price!

Doing my review based on previous visits where I’ve ordered off the menu and never been disappointed by this cafe’s homemade meals. I choose the breakfast buffet served in the lower level today and will not make that mistake again. Food was ok at best on the buffet.

Quiet saddened by how quality if food has just gone down hill amd continues to go down with new owners Cassie and Isaac. Had brunch and got 2 under items served to us, she both back and didn’t get an apology from Cassie when told at check but rather excuses that meat was “temp checked” yet so undercooked the waitress noticed without us even saying anything and was very apologic taking it back tot he kitchen. Another item was still cold and partly frozen in the middle. Paid $52 and a discount for the food was not even given or offered. This would have NEVER happened woth either of previous owners so sad Cassie and Issac are running the business so unprofessional! Be a long before I would consider returning.

We loveee this place. We always stop for rolls on the way up to a cabin. But every time we go to the zoo we stop for a brunch too. Food is always good. Staff is quick and nice and super great. Did I mention the rolls….stop and try it all you won’t regret it! Good size portions of food for a decent price. Cute little restaurant.
