Since my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood changed ownership and the food quality dropped, I started exploring other nearby places within a 1 km radius. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise — it doesn’t feel like just a quick-stop bistro. They pay attention to details: table is set with proper cutlery, nicely printed napkins, and small side plates. The atmosphere is inviting, good enough to bring a guest for a meal.

The prices are slightly higher than regular Chinese restaurants (around $10–25 depending on the dish), but still reasonable. As a vegetarian, I ordered a small Tom Yum soup, which was honestly excellent. For the main course, I asked for a vegetarian meal with tofu and brown rice. The lady confirmed they had tofu, and I double-checked — again, she said yes.

What I received looked like a veggie rice dish, and I assumed it was just a side while I waited for the actual tofu dish. I enjoyed the soup slowly for about five minutes. After finishing, I waited another few minutes, but nothing else came — so I figured that was the full meal. The rice dish was tasty, but unfortunately, it didn’t contain any tofu.

The total bill for the soup and rice (without a drink) came to $20. I left feeling a bit mixed — satisfied with the soup and overall vibe, but a bit let down by the missing tofu, especially after it was confirmed. The vegetarian options seem quite limited, and it looks like they might not actually have tofu, despite what was said.

From the menu wording, it seems to be a fusion of Indian and Chinese cuisine. The cooking is genuinely good and thoughtful, but I’d love to see the vegetarian section expanded.

I ordered food to-go to treat some guests arriving at my house and the food had both a cockroach and hair across different dishes. Brought to attention of worker there and offered no fair nor kind solution despite our embarrassment for their poor food hygiene.

I have no idea why the reviews are so bad because it was my first time coming here & everything was better then alright . As far as my experience go I had a wonderful time eat king delicious food .

I had no idea this place excited until I accidentally run into this restaurant on the streets while I was Eid shopping. The reason I came in was the name of the restaurant. Bringing back childhood memories, growing up in Dhaka eating Chinese food from Chang Pai was awesome. Altho I know it’s not the same place but it made me to try their food .

I tried special Thai soup , chicken steamed momo & got Manchurian to go.

Service was excellent, didn’t took that long to get food . I will definitely be coming back when I come to Jamaica , queens .

I did used the restroom & it was very clean! Thank you guys for everything.

Worst food – found hair in soup. Picture given.
Worst services – soup was so salty that we can’t even have it and when we informed that to the restaurant, the chef told loudly that we never had soup in life!!! This place doesn’t deserve to continue their business.
Before visiting Hillside Chang Pai Halal Thai and Chinese, please think at least ten times!!!!
This restaurant deserves 0 rating!!!

I recently dined at what claimed to be a Thai restaurant in New York , but it was far from an authentic Thai experience. The restaurant’s interior was quite bleak and reminiscent of a bygone era, making for a rather depressing atmosphere. The sole staff member, a young woman, seemed to be juggling multiple roles, from greeting guests to serving and handling cash. It was evident that she deserved better compensation for her efforts.

Firstly, the menu was a blatant copy of another Chinese-Thai restaurant, setting the stage for disappointment. The prices were shockingly high compared to the restaurant’s location and the level of service provided.

We started with the mixed Thai soup, which was a letdown. It contained only shrimp and bits of beef and had an oddly sweet taste. I’d give it a mere 4/10. The chicken wonthon was overcooked and lacked flavor, earning it a mediocre 5/10.

Surprisingly, the mixed fried rice was the highlight of the meal, with a score of 7/10. However, the beef chili dish was an absolute disaster and couldn’t even earn a single point.

In conclusion, I would not recommend this restaurant unless you have no other options in the area. There are plenty of renowned Bengali restaurants nearby, such as Panshi and Ghoroa, where you can enjoy a more satisfying dining experience.

This place is a joke. My sister walked in the store and sat down in the chair and it broke. The owner walked out and asked if she was okay with a smirk on his face like it was funny. That was totally not okay. If the chair is on the verge of breaking why would u not replace it or move it so a customer doesn’t get hurt? It’s common sense. They were lucky she didn’t call the cops on them. She walked out and didn’t look back. Truly disgusted.
If your furniture is falling apart and you think it’s funny when customers get hurt, that says everything about how you run your business.

I had a very disappointing experience at this Chinese restaurant. I ordered the chicken fry, and it was honestly one of the worst I’ve ever had. The coating on the chicken had a strange, unpleasant smell, and the texture was off – definitely not fresh or properly cooked. It was difficult to even finish a few bites.
When I politely brought this to the attention of the staff, the response I received was shockingly rude. The woman I spoke to had a terrible attitude and clearly lacked basic customer service skills. Instead of listening or offering any kind of solution, she was dismissive and disrespectful. I’ve never been treated so poorly in a restaurant.

How can you make Pad Thai with days old chicken tikka, green pepper and catchup! There was no trace of any kind of thai sauce or any flavor.

I bought the lunch special for $8.99plus tax.
I bought Fried rice and sesame chicken on top.
They barely give you any chicken and they give you more rice. I will not buy their lunch special.

Their meal deal with soup and only $8-9 with a platter, literally unbeatable! You get your moneys worth. But the lady is so sweet and nice and attentive.
