If you want a hole-in-the-wall and authentic experience, then this is the place to go. As for the customer service, I think it really adds to the authenticity. When I look for Chinese food, I find a direct correlation between lack of ambience/customer service with the authenticity/taste of food. The food proves this logic. The owner is a one man band and banking on skill alone which is honestly quite impressive since the overhead costs to keep this location running is not cheap.

I have to say it is one of the best crispy fried pork with sauce(溜肉段) I tried. I don’t mind the service. The owner is a interesting guy. I first asked if it is (authentic) north-eastern cuisine, because the owner is speaking southern accent. The owner is super impatient and asked me to the name of the restaurant. He also keeps complaining he is too tired. Anyway, would definitely come again.

This is a hidden gem on Durant Ave. The restaurant looks like it’s a family-run place that’s good for a chill dining-out experience (there’s a wait for the food but it’s worth it).

If you’re looking for authentic spicy cuisine from North China, this is a good place to start. There’s plenty of space for families and large groups.

The restaurant is on the second floor and you’ll need to take the stairs past the Korean restaurant. It’s not a difficult climb but it also means the place is not wheelchair-friendly.

Payment accepted via cash or Venmo.

Above average and price is acceptable. Tofu veg bowl is the best. Can not pay with credit card. And don’t expect any service even the tip is fixed.

The food was Amazing!!! Sure it had slightly dim lighting and an interesting atmosphere, but if you want good food, at a good price, being cooked right behind you right after you order, this is the place to go. Service was fast, the chef and assumed owner was nice!

There’s is only one worker at the restaurant. He acts as the server and the cook. He’s got a very bad attitude. I asked him to cook me fried rice and he said it’s too much effort to do so. So he ended up serving white rice instead. Food is alright overall but feels unclean. I got a stomache right after eating at his restaurant.

Food is not authentic Northern Chinese cuisine. Owner has unwelcoming attitude.

There was absolutely no one during dinner time. That definitely said something haha!

Service is bad. I guess the business owner does everything since he’s the only one serving and cooking at the restaurant. This business seems to avoid taxes and fees since you can only by cash or Venmo and there is no receipt. He’s got a bad attitude and doesn’t even talk. When we got there, there was only one table yet the wait for our food was like 30 minutes and it was not hot at all. When we asked what was the specialty for the vegetables for the day, he simply responded “it’s a plant he’s growing”?? The environment was unsanitary as well and only a few lights were on. It was like eating in a haunted house. What threw me off was when we asked for the check he rolled his eyes and didn’t say anything or think you after we paid. I mean, if you are so cheap and don’t even follow regulatory rules why would you even care to open a business in the first place?

Ok the service is meh and resturant looks run down yes but the taste is amazingly authentic for north western food. I feel like I’m at home, and the guy really is a great cook. I’m sure if he got more customers he could afford to hire a waiter then he wouldn’t be so busy and upset
