Absolutely loved Chandni Chowk Restaurant in Berkeley!
The food took me straight back to the streets of Delhi. The chaat was bursting with flavor perfectly tangy and fresh. The chicken tikka masala was creamy and rich, and the chole bhature was spot on soft bhature and flavorful chole just like home. The pav bhaji was another winner, buttery and full of authentic taste.

The service was excellent, very friendly and attentive staff. I also loved the interior art and design colorful, vibrant, and full of Indian street vibes. You can tell they’ve put a lot of heart into both the food and the atmosphere.

Highly recommend this place for anyone craving real Indian flavors in Berkeley!

I have ordered twice from this place (chole bhature & dahi vada) and this time I decided to dine in. I am from New Delhi and I have been to the real Chandni Chowk unlimited times, and this restaurant doesn’t justify it.

I am extremely disappointed with the price and the quality of the food. The yogurt in the chaat/dahi vada was way too less for the price they are charging. For a moment, I felt like they forgot to add the curd and chutneys properly. It also felt like pickup orders have more quantity than dine-in.

We ordered soya chaap, which was very basic and served with just one small slice of onion and one spoon of chutney-which is really funny for $16.99. The chicken curry ($17.99) quantity was also not justified.

The taste of the food was below average. Only the dahi vada was nice, but again the quantity was very less. The samosa chaat was so oily that you could literally taste the oil.

The atmosphere was not great and the seating area is very small and the table where we sat was wobbling.
The employees are nice, but the service is super slow…it took almost 50 minutes to get dahi vada, chaap, and aloo chaat. I was happy to have an Indian restaurant close to my house, but this was very disappointing. I don’t understand how this place has so many 5-star reviews. Not sure if I am gonna be back here ever!

I visited Chandni Chowk in Berkeley and absolutely loved it! I started with the Dahi Vada,it was so soft, beautifully crafted, and perfectly delicious. For the main course, I tried their signature Aslam Chicken, and it was outstanding full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys authentic and flavorful Indian food!

Visited Chandni Chowk Berkeley and absolutely loved the food! The Paneer Tikka Kabab was perfectly grilled, the Old Delhi style Aslam Chicken was flavorful, and tender. The Chicken Tandoori was juicy with just the right spice, and the meal ended beautifully with dessert Kabari Kheer. Great ambiance and friendly service definitely a must visit spot in Berkeley!

After years of finding our spot for Indian food in Oakland/Berkeley – we finally found it here!!

The fresh naan is delicate but flavorful. Had two rounds of proper chai! The saag paneer and Aslam chicken was a great balance of flavor and tenderness! The service and ambience were great. Will definitely add this place into our monthly rotation.

Food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Dahi Puri chaat, which we loved and recommend everyone try. My partner says it’s just like what’s served in Delhi.

Aloo gobhi was made perfectly and was my favorite thing on the table.

We prefer gravies with no cream so ordered the chicken curry which had perfectly cooked chicken. Next time we will ask them to make it a little spicier, but that’s just our preference!

Finally, a great Indian restaurant in the East Bay! The food was delicious and flavorful, but not too spicy like many Indian places -which I really appreciated. As a vegetarian, I also loved that their menu clearly marks vegetarian options, making ordering easy. The ambience is warm and inviting, and the staff are absolutely lovely. Service was attentive without being overbearing. We’ll definitely be back, and this will be our go to spot for takeout as well. Highly recommend!

I had an amazing experience at this Indian restaurant! Every dish was full of authentic flavor and perfectly cooked , especially the curry and tandoori items, Aslam chicken is the star among . The spices were balanced beautifully, and the naan came out soft and fresh. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm, colorful, and felt just like being in India. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves real Indian food. definitely a 5-star experience.

Really nice experience. Staff was kind enough to let us sit for a quick dinner 40 minutes from closing. Food was really tasty and a fun change from other indian restaurants with some indochin offerings. Definitely going back so I can order something different. So excited to have a fun new restaurant within walking distance!

had the aloo tikki chaat and chai today for lunch and it was so delicious! immediately my favourite south asian spot in berkeley/oakland. their fremont food truck is incredible too. its hard to find authentic south asian food in the bay that hasn’t been watered down and made flavourless but chandni chowk’s food was flavourful, fresh, familiar, and comforting. love that having your chai in a matka is an option too. im excited to be back and try the whole menu 🙂
