If you visit Jacksonville on a weekend and don’t go to chancho king, you are missing out. Their regular menu is phenomenal, but Friday nights and Sundays are the real stars. “Late night” (every Friday evening) features a special menu that’s different every week. There is a DJ and lots of kind people, a great place to go if you are looking for a chill party with great food to start your weekend. Sundays feature a special menu filled with seafood. Chancho has the BEST CEVICHE IN JACKSONVILLE. And you can customize your ceviche! Sundays are also very family friendly. Jacksonville is so lucky to have this restaurant. Do yourself a favor and check it.

Everything was delicious for our 1st visit. (Fried red fish & white rice with plantains with passion fruit mango) We are planning to return for the rest of the menu.

Chancho King isn’t just an incredible restaurant for Ecuadorian cuisine — it’s a true neighborhood gem that stands out even in Jacksonville’s diverse culinary landscape. This family-owned establishment perfectly captures the essence of what makes Ecuadorian food so special: simple preparations that showcase exceptional ingredients and masterful flavor combinations.

Every dish that comes out of their kitchen demonstrates genuine craftsmanship. The flavors are clean, authentic, and beautifully balanced, proving that great cooking doesn’t need to be complicated—it just needs to be done with skill and care. From perfectly seasoned meats to vibrant sauces and traditional preparations, each plate tells a story of culinary tradition executed with precision.

What truly sets Chancho King apart, however, is the warmth of the owners. Their genuine friendliness and welcoming spirit make every visit feel like you’re being invited into their home. They’re passionate about sharing their culture through food, and it shows in every interaction and every lovingly prepared dish.

In a city full of dining options, Chancho King offers something genuinely special: authentic Ecuadorian cuisine prepared with heart, served by people who truly care about their guests’ experience. Whether you’re already familiar with Ecuadorian food or looking to try something new, this restaurant deserves a spot at the top of your list.

One of the best places to eat in Jacksonville, there is so much depth to what they’re creating at Chancho King and you just have to taste it for yourself.

I decided to try this “Ecuadorian” restaurant. The people who work there don’t speak Spanish, but it’s supposed to be Ecuadorian, so someone should speak Spanish. The prices on the menu are out of date. The rice with lentils and meat (in Ecuador, this refers to all types of meat) costs $17, but here it’s only chicken or pork. So I made the big mistake of ordering beef, and they charged me an extra $15 (there is no sign or notice indicating this surcharge), so the dish that costs $17 goes up to $30 (seriously), which I would say is MISLEADING ADVERTISING. They also don’t have a children’s menu. In the end, for two lentils with “meat” plus a serving of chicken, a serving of rice, and drinks, the bill was almost $90, when in other Latin restaurants it doesn’t exceed $40. Anyway, if you want to eat real Ecuadorian food, this is NOT the place to go.

What an amazing gem for Jacksonville, a locally owned restaurant that has a Friday late night menu and a ceviche/seafood brunch Sunday that is the best food in Jacksonville. They deserve a James Beard award, so if you are a chef that can nominate restaurants and are in Jacksonville for some reason (apologies) – Go to Chancho King on Sunday!

During the week, they have amazing sandwiches for $7-8 which is a steal. Great owners and great staff that will make you feel at home.

I’ll be coming back here again. This place had great tasting food and decently priced. The service was helpful and relatively quick. Beer selection was good too, a few local beers on tap which is always welcomed.

The chicken dish was super flavorful; savory and that sauce mixed with the rice was awesome.

The pork was not dry and had a great taste. Loved the chicharrones as well. It was all a hit!

This was a random find that really blew us away. I heard about the food truck associated with a local brewery, so I decided to investigate their menu. The menu was one sided, so that already gave me hope. The second sign was that the food had a combination of unique flavors. We wound up going to their main storefront and was greeted by a friendly staff member that gave us the rundown. The restaurant was clean inside with ample seating, and the restrooms were great as well. The hanging plants really opened up the space. After getting our food we could tell we were in for a treat. The chicken, rice, plantains, everything – was seasoned well and the perfect temperature. We devoured almost everything and definitely took leftovers. Considering what Jacksonville has this is definitely top tier and the city is lucky to have this place.

I’m very disappointed with my experience here. The portions were extremely small considering how expensive the dishes are. As an Ecuadorian, I had a different expectation of the food and quality, but I left feeling completely let down. Sadly, I wouldn’t return or recommend this place.
