The atmosphere was pleasant and in nice weather their patio must be spectacular. The inside dining area tastefully decorated and the background music was just right. Really cheap stamped metal flatwear really stood out, nicer flatware would be a good touch.
There is NO street parking, but there is an adequate parking lot behind the restaurant accessed by growing around the block.
With more of a focus on the food this would be a Great little restaurant to take your friends to, but as it is now I will be avoiding it.
When we first walked in, a girl greeted us and started taking our order. We assumed she was the host or a server, but when we asked a few questions about the menu she repeatedly responded with “I don’t know.” This happened several times, and she never offered to ask another employee for help. Eventually a gentleman stepped in and finished taking our order. He was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu, which we appreciated. However, if an employee isn’t familiar with the menu, they probably shouldn’t be the one taking orders or should at least offer to ask someone who knows.
The bigger issue was the food. I ordered the tom kha soup and unfortunately found three pieces of plastic in it, which was really concerning. My sister ordered a side of fried rice, and the flavor was off — it had a strange wet or humid taste that made it hard to enjoy.
We were excited to try this place, but between the service confusion and the issues with the food, the experience was disappointing. I hope the restaurant takes feedback like this seriously and improves both staff training and food quality.
Whispers from the regulars pointed me towards their star dishes: the fragrant pineapple fried rice, the perfectly balanced pad thai, and the comforting, soul-warming pho. They even offer a few American Chinese favorites, like the tempting sesame chicken.
However, I decided to venture into their curry offerings, and let me tell you, it was a fantastic choice. The rich, aromatic spices danced on my palate, creating a symphony of flavors.
What truly sets Chan Thai/Pho 88 apart is the unbeatable combination of delicious food and the undeniable care that comes from a family-run establishment. You can taste the passion and dedication in every bite. If you’re looking for an authentic and heartwarming meal in Bishop Arts, look no further. This place is a must-try!
There were many flies on the patio but it is a nice, large outdoor seating area.
Good portions and price. Would dine-in again.
