Really good! Bring on the heat! Amazing service, this place is ran by the best people. I love the authentic menu that doesn’t shy away from itself. Papaya salad is great! Khao poon was delicious and flavourful. Laab was a hit, could use more of the herbs though! Overall great experience and I can’t wait to try more on the menu!

This is a hidden gem in Uptown! We started off with the Champa Platter and then enjoyed the delicious Golden Crispy Duck over Pan-Fried Egg Noodles. Hands down the best duck dish I have ever had. Wonderful atmosphere and the owners are so nice.

We’ve been coming to Champa for several months now, and during all this time there hasn’t been a single negative experience. The food is always deliciously prepared. The welcome is always warm and friendly, which makes you feel very comfortable. The interior and renovation aren’t the newest, but all the other advantages more than make up for that. We especially love their Sticky Mango Rice — we order it absolutely every time we visit this café. We also really like their Thai coffee with condensed milk. This time, as shown in the photo, we also ordered the teriyaki salmon and chicken.

Champa kitchen is one of the best spots for authentic Thai food in Uptown Waterloo. The dishes are fresh, flavorful, and nicely presented, with portions that are generous for the price. The menu has a great mix of classic favorites and house specialties, so there’s something for everyone.
A highlight for me was their mango sticky rice — it’s amazing, with perfectly ripe mango and sweet, creamy sticky rice that makes for the perfect finish to the meal.
The atmosphere is casual but cozy, making it good for both dine-in and takeout.
Parking is also convenient. There’s roadside parking right outside the restaurant, and if that’s full, the Waterloo Town Square parking lot is only a short walk away.

service is good and env is also fine but the food is horrible. None is authentic food… I could not even finish them and just leave. Might not go if you know what real Thai and Vietnam food taste like. They need a new chef for sure.

Had an amazing experience at Authentic Thai Leo Vietnamese Cuisine! The Chicken Pho was incredibly flavorful and comforting, and the Shrimp Summer Rolls were fresh, light, and absolutely delicious. Everything tasted authentic and was beautifully presented. The staff were super friendly and welcoming—their recommendations were spot-on and really enhanced the meal. Excellent food and even better hospitality. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving real Vietnamese flavors!

This was our first visit to Champa Kitchen on a Friday for lunch.

There’s plenty of free 2 hour parking in nearby city parking lots.

The exterior of the building is a bit dilapidated and definitely needs some repair; I was suprised how unappealing the exterior looked.

Upon entry, we were met by a Please Wait to be SEATED sign and other handwritten signs below it that were rudimentary and not professional looking. The male waiter (and owner) was very friendly and knowledgeable; he knew the menu inside and out (he said he was the one who made it). The restaurant is small and seats approximately 30 people. It was nice to hear authentic music playing in the background. The decor was simple and clean.

The menu itself it quite vast and somewhat difficult to read and understand due to the yellow coloured font on a white background; more contrast on the menu would be helpful. The online menu was straight forward and easier to read.

We ordered Crispy Spring Rolls and Calamari for appetizers.
The spring rolls were well fried and seasoned. The fish sauce that came with the spring rolls was a good accompaniment.
The calamri was also well fried but the outter skin layer of the calamri was not removed; it’s almost like pulling dental floss out of your mouth. You don’t receive a lot of calamri.

The Crispy Roasted Duck was cooked to perfection but had absolutely no seasoning. I had the homemade spicy peanut sauce but there was nothing spicy about it and it was very sweet; I would definitely not order this sugary sauce again.

The Khao Piek Gai soup was very disappointing. It lacked flavour and seasoning. The broth was bland, the chicken was bland and the noodles were bland. The soup felt as though it was unfinished.

The Green Curry Chicken was a good sized portion. The chicken and vegetables were cooked well and the sauce had a good spice. The problem was the sweetness which took me by surprise. It was almost over-poweringly sweet which is the last thing I expected in a green curry.

Although we are happy we came out to support our local eatery, we were too disappointed with our lunch and will not be returning.

This was a nice experience. The menu is extensive. We had a curry and udon, along with two different types of fresh rolls with shrimp—one with crispy shrimp and the other with just shrimp. The food was really good.

We also had a couple of warm desserts: the sago pudding and mango sticky rice. Both were excellent. Their bubble tea was nice—not your classic Asian bubble tea, but definitely enjoyable.

The Thai coffee had an odd barbecue aftertaste. When I told the server, he took me seriously and let me try some of the actual coffee syrup. So, the aftertaste comes from the syrup—it’s not because of how they made it or whatever. They didn’t bill me for it, so it’s all good.

That said, the place was good and we will be back. The coffee issue was minor, and the food was great. The service was attentive. Not inexpensive, but worth it.

EDIT: Edited to reflect that I was not billed for the drink. Thank you, Champa!

Our dinner was delicious – we shared satay chicken, shrimp summer rolls, and nam khao and it was plenty for 2 people. The mango sticky rice for dessert was amazing. We will definitely be back.

The food was amazing! I brought take out home for my husband and he said it was the best Lao food he has had. I’ll need to bring him with me here so he can try it fresh!

The service my server Tim provided for our party was beyond my expectations! He was knowledgeable, entertaining and engaging with our party. He went above and beyond.

Good customer care is hard to come by these days! If you want to be taken care of and have delicious food, you should dine here!
