Absolutely loved our experience at Chalawan Thai Restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff made us feel right at home. The food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care and authenticity. Every dish was perfectly balanced, from the rich curries to the perfectly cooked noodles and bold Thai spices.
Portion sizes were generous, presentation was beautiful, and everything came out hot and fast. You can tell this is a place that takes pride in both their food and their service. If you’re in New Braunfels and craving incredible Thai food, Chalawan is an absolute must-visit. We’ll definitely be back!

Food AMAZING, service THE BEST, consistency ON POINT ALWAYS!!! Every visit I get something new and I am never disappointed. The flavors will flood into your SOUL!!! The quality, the authenticity, the plate settings, the table settings, and down to the table lamps sets the mood for you to sit and enjoy every single bite you take in. Definitely make it over here as soon as you read this. Just pick anything if you don’t know what you want exactly and your taste buds will thank you later.

Ok, so this place was absolutely amazing! The ambiance was beautiful, the staff was amazing, and the show stopper was the food. We had the appetizer sampler, beef salad, cucumber salad and Tom Yum soup. Everything was made exceptionally well, flavors, level of spice and sauces were all so yummy. We will be back! For the drinkers, she does allow byob so we brought a bottle of wine. She is currently renovating to expand and put in a bar area. She said should be completed sometime early next year. I only got a picture of the sampler but it was beautifully presented

We were a little nervous when we arrived because the place was completely empty, but the interior had a super cute vibe and we were greeted and seated right away. Unfortunately, our waitress got our order wrong and then tried to argue and charge us for a dish we didn’t order. A different waitress and the kitchen staff thankfully stepped in, acknowledged the issue, and helped get things sorted. They still didn’t get the order quite right we got chicken when we ordered combo and tofu, but what we ended up with was tasty. Their effort definitely saved the experience. If it weren’t for the kitchen stepping up, we probably wouldn’t have come back—but thanks to them (and the surprisingly tasty food), we’d be willing to give this place another chance. Maybe she was just having an off day, but definitely repeat your order and maybe point at it in the menu. The food was really good and the presentation was beautiful!

This is hands-down the best Thai restaurant in town! From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the unique and memorable underwater gator-themed ambiance — definitely not something you see every day, and it adds a fun twist to the dining experience.
The food was absolutely phenomenal. I ordered the mixed Pad Thai, which was bursting with authentic, well-balanced flavors — just the right blend of sweet, savory, and a hint of spice. The garlic chicken wings were crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. I also tried the sampler platter, which came with wontons, spring rolls, and egg rolls — each item was fresh, crispy, and delicious.
The service was equally impressive. The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick to refill drinks without being asked. It really made the whole experience feel welcoming and well cared for.

I would give this place 10 stars, it’s phenomenal! I got the pumpkin curry and oh my god The server was so nice and attentive. Only negative is that he was the only server on a Saturday night so I wish he had more help, he said they were short staffed. The interior is so cute and the food is amazing, my picky husband even loved it. Highly recommend!

This was the absolute best Thai food that I had in a while. We went to Thailand a couple of times so I can say for sure that it was absolutely authentic! The portions were very big and so delicious. Service was great too. The owner brought us a watermelon cake for my birthday. Such sweet people. Thank you! We’ll be back!

HIGHLY recommend coming here! The service is great. The server was so kind and very helpful with choosing items. The chef brought out the food and cracked jokes making it feel homey. Then we decided on the mango coconut sticky rice. We DEVOURED it. The whole plate by ourselves. MUST TRY. Also great music selection!
