One of Winston-Salem’s longest-running Thai establishments, Cha Da Thai made for a frustratingly uneven dining experience. To the restaurant’s credit, it’s very nicely appointed. The interior features decorative woodwork, plants, and even a fish tank. The ambiance here is cozy and inviting.
Cha Da also boasts a sizeable menu. In addition to the soups, salads, curries, rice, and noodle dishes you’d expect, there are more lamb, duck, and fish offerings than you’d find at many Thai places.
Everything else was a mixed bag. Servers are affable, but the kitchen is rather slow. The food ranged from off-putting to solidly satisfying, with nothing really impressing. An order of papaya salad was generously portioned but went too heavy on the fish sauce. A tofu green curry featured a flavorful, coconut-forward sauce that was both tasty and too thin, and the accompanying vegetables could have benefited from more eggplant and less cabbage. A chicken Pad Thai hit the desired level of spiciness and did not skimp on the tamarind. While it was sweeter than I’ve had elsewhere, it hit the spot overall.
Cha Da Thai’s setting would make it an attractive dine-in destination if only the food were more consistent. As-is, Winston-Salem has better Thai options.

This is hands down one of the best Thai places I’ve been to. I went here with my husband a few days ago. The food was incredibly fresh, full of flavor, and perfectly cooked, you can tell a lot of care goes into every dish. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Also Soe was our waiter, she was friendly, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. Excellent service like that really makes a difference. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic, delicious Thai food and amazing service. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Although the server was very nice, service was slow even though the place didn’t seem crowded. Maybe it was an off night because other reviews were excellent so we were confused. One of the entrees, crispy duck, took an hour to come out. I think customers deserve a warning if the food is going to take that long. Compared to a few other places, the duck could’ve been crispier. I’m disappointed because I took family from out of town. My sister rated the pad Thai 3.5/5. There wasn’t a fresh lime to squeeze over the dish. The cheese sticks and calamari were 5/5.

Amazing Thai Food is truly a gem! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Every dish tasted authentic and made with care, from start to finish.
What made the experience even better was our server, Soe. Soe was incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. She made sure everything was perfect, checked in at the right moments, and had such a warm, positive attitude that made me and my family feel genuinely cared for. Excellent service like that makes a big difference.
Highly recommend this restaurant for both the amazing food and the outstanding service. We’ll definitely be back!

Decided to do an early Mother’s Day dinner at Cha Da Thai. I have been many times but this was the first time for the rest of the family. The service was outstanding. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was excellent! We didn’t take pictures of the Cheese Rolls (appetizer) or the Mango Sticky Rice we shared for dessert. Everything was outstanding and we look forward to going again soon!

I’ve been to cha da thai multiple times, and I can say it is the farthest thing from disappointing. Best thai food I have ever had!! My favorite dish here is definitely the beef pho, and papaya salad. I really recommend to come try this place with friends and family for a fun comfy and cozy atmosphere! The manager is so sweet, kind, and understanding!! I will always choose cha da thai as my first place to go when it comes to eating out. Also is Lao owned so support small asian businesses!! 🙂

We have sweet and sour Chicken for lunch,
Crunchy duck stirred fried with veggies,
Pad Se Eu with beef.
We ate this place often when we lived around WS 5 years ago.
We loved it!
And now we visit again and taste still the same from last 5 years ago.
It’s amazing!
I tried to eat it all but my eyes are bigger than my stomach.
You guys did a great job!!!

This was the best meal that I’ve had in years. Everything we got was scrumptious! We got the Tom Kha soup with seafood, shrimp pad Thai with extra vegetables
, and the appetizer spring rolls. All amazing. Get the spice tray, if you need it. It was all perfect as is. Whoever is the chef here deserves an award! The gentleman that waited on us was also such a kind young man. Amazing service. I will be back so much. Plenty of parking.

First time trying this place. Nice decor and the host and waitress were nice and efficient and helpful. Service was fantastic and the food was great, hot and abundant. I took enough home for two more meals. I will definitely return here…. I got the Sizzling Duck and it came with salad, broth and rice. The duck was tender and plentiful as were the carrots, snow peas and other veggies.
