The “service” model here is completely DIY. You are expected to:
* Seat yourself upon arrival.
* Find your own menus and order for yourself.
* Carry all your own drinks and your table number back to your seat.
* Return to the counter for any refills
It’s hard to relax when you’re acting as your own server. To make matters worse, despite the total lack of hospitality, the payment system immediately prompts for a 15% gratuity. It feels bold to ask for a tip when the customer is the one providing the labor and service and food have not yet been provided in addition to jacked up prices.
The timing of the kitchen was also disappointing. Soup was served at the same time as the main course rather than as an appetizer, which defeats the purpose of advanced service for starving customers who were also freezing in the establishments lack of heat.
As for the food itself:
* The Portions: They serve with overwhelming amount of rice, which wasn’t even that warm compared to the hot plate it was served on, with little meat.
* The Sauce Ratio: There was just enough sauce to finish the meal at the table, but because of the rice volume, we ran out quickly.
* The Policy: When asked for extra sauce to take home with rice leftovers, we were flatly refused by the manager.
The temperature inside was uncomfortably low. It was so cold that we had to keep our jackets on for the entire duration of the meal, which definitely killed the “night out” vibe. Home and reheating leftovers was definitely a better price to pay.
The food was actually quite good, but it wasn’t nearly good enough to justify the cold room, the lack of service, and the awkward tipping expectations. We won’t be returning for another night out here and wouldn’t recommend a nice night out, which at those prices it should be, to anyone.
Didn’t find the food appealing or very good. The salsa had a strong lime flavor, perhaps too much tamarind.
The beef fajitas had very small pieces of beef, cut thinner than the peppers or onion in a sauce that was very greasy. The beans were runny.
The draft beer was very cold. That was nice. In addition, the staff seemed to work very hard. I don’t think I will be back without an update to their recipes.
