Intimate date night spot, if you dine inside; outdoor seating is more casual. Food and service was great. Highlights were the crispy shrimp heads and lamb burger with anchovies (trust me, get the anchovies on the burger…it adds a nice salty contrast). The fried sourdough with eggplant and anchovies was also a great plate, as was the watercress salad. Shared five “smaller plates” and one main dish for two people and that was more than plenty of food.

Delicious food – lives up to its description of Coastal Spain and Portugal. We tried as many dishes as we could and everything was great, though the oysters were unimpressive (for an oyster bar!). Our favorite were the Manila clams. We recommend getting a side of their homemade sour dough to soak up all the good sauces from the clams and the shrimp. We appreciated our waitress letting us sample some wines before deciding! Our one star off is because the price point is pretty high. Although the food is good, the portions are on the smaller side and the space really squeezed everyone in. You can only walk around the resto in single file. I’d say come for a special occasion when the occasion doesn’t need to be white cloth fancy – but nice lighting and a good menu.

This place is super cute and the service is awesome but the food was disappointing for the price. The good- delicious clams, shrimp heads and water crest salad. The bad- the oysters, that just came with mediocre hot sauce. The fried mushrooms were not special, and the worst dish was the shrimp. The shrimp was overcooked, and the presentation was really bad. Like we questioned if it was someone’s leftovers cause it was so unattractive. Anyhow, prob won’t be back unless it’s for drinks.

Portuguese and Spanish inspired, elevated tapas in a very tight, cozy space. Although delicious, portion is small and bread is extra (from Mel). Highly recommend the prawn heads, mandarin manchego salad, and the mussels. The decadent chocolate basque cheese cake is heavy but delicious. Wide range of Portuguese wine (including good selection of orange wine).

great vibes! good food and amazing location (I love eating in the middle of Canal street). The drinks can be improved a bit more tho. I came right before they opened on a Friday afternoon and a line immediately started not long after I arrived. I think if I had to wait longer than 20 min, I probably prefer somewhere else. I recommend getting the chicken and the clams, the prawns and the tortilla. Food portion is on the lighter side and it makes me think that some restaurants today can really consider restarting the complimentary bread tradition.

Dairy-free / pescatarian heaven! We were visiting NYC for the bf’s birthday and wanted to have a seafood night. I was prepared to do a lot of explaining about not being able to have butter, but was told that none of the seafood is cooked with it. Their desserts and some of the other dishes have dairy, but the majority of the menu was a go for me. The clams were the highlight for sure. I can never have this dish normally bc butter and ordering it stress-free was amaziiing. We also ordered bread that you can dip into the broth and it was divine. Only thing I wasn’t 100% sold on was the bread being served cold. Was craving a steamy scenario lol. We also ordered the prawns (not the fried heads) which were pretty good, but would try the mussels next time instead. The drinks were amazing and the ambiance is perfect. Definitely a little cramped but the staff was happy to coat check for us. Was so happy with the service, it felt like we were just hanging with friends. Love love love, take me back!

This place is phenomenal! Loved everything we tried there. The peri peri chicken is definitely the highlight. It took a while to come out, but totally worth the wait. Our server brought us some more salad while we waited and it was perfect. Thanks for making sure we eat more greens 😀 Can’t wait to bring more friends back here!!

What a true masterpiece! My friend and I visited this fine establishment on my last night in NYC for dinner on 9/6/21. I am glad we got a table and were welcomed by a lovely tall male host who brought us to our table inside, then we were greeted by our server who was absolutely wonderful along all the wonderful staff and culinary team who make Cervo’s what it is a true culinary beacon! Now to the beautiful cuisine, of both Portugal & Spain. Started off with a drinks, my friend had the lemonade & I had the Daiquiri which was a beautiful drink and loved the notes of flavors, then we ordered different plates of outstanding Portuguese & Spanish cuisine, our offerings consists of marinated smoked paprika spanish olives w/ pits, remarkable, house baked sourdough bread, remarkable, Seared Scallops over spicy fire roasted tomato risotto, remarkable & the scallops were succulent, the spicy prawns, succulent & sweet yet subtle heat, remarkable, marinated tomato mozzarella plate, absolutely delicious! Then our entrees consists of fried Skate fish topped with dressed watercress & aioli which was remarkable and the fired roasted chicken w/ piri piri sauce w/ crispy fries with aioli was spectacular and the chicken was full of smoked flavor along with the heat of the piri piri sauce, loved the house fries with the beautiful aioli. Then I concluded the beautiful meal with the chocolate mousse which was over yogurt, drizzled with Spanish olive oil & roasted pistachios, life changing just an outstanding dessert! I want to say as a Culinarian & Foodie this establishment should definitely be awarded 3 Michelin Stars and a James Beard Award for the outstanding service and the culinary team who I thanked after they presented me a world class dining experience! Job Well Done Chefs! Management and all the front of the house staff should give themselves a pat on the back for your exceptional quality. I highly recommend Cervo’s! It’s a must try!
