The Celtic Ray Public House in downtown Punta Gorda opened in 1997 by Proprietor Kevin Doyle. At the time there wasn’t a single establishment in the area that offered a variety of quality imported beers and the atmosphere of a traditional Irish Pub. We serve only high-quality imported/craft draught beers, bottled beers, ciders, fine wines, as well as, a selection of “soft” beverages. We also have a full liquor bar and beer garden with entertainment every weekend. Our menu features traditional Irish Pub favorites made from fresh ingredients and family recipes. The Celtic Ray’s Fish & Chips are famous worldwide!
See you at the Ray, Sláinte!
Brightly painted, laid-back tavern offering traditional Irish pub grub, plus imported beer on tap.

Thw food was delicious and full of flavor. We ordered the Reuben Pasty. It tasted nothing like any reuben that we’ve ever had, but it was so good. The restaurant/pub is a bit different than we had ever been to. We sat at a table for sometime before I saw a sign that said to order at one of the bars and that was a bit frustrating as 2 people n our party were older and one in a wheelchair that didn’t make it easy for our party at remembering everyone’s drinks, food, and paying. Also the nenu was on a chalk board abovevthe bar, and definitely not easy for a few in our party to see in the dim lighting. I did ask for menus and they had pamphlet size menus. The main floor is wheelchair accessible at the front and back door the bathroom was wide enough for a wheelchair. I definitely recommend checking out this restaurant/pub.

Really cool Public house. Lots of seating, huge bar, excellent food, great beer, friendly staff, it’s just a good place to stop and eat and grab a pint of Guinness. We had shepherds pie and fish and chips and enjoyed every bit of it. Portions are hefty and worth every penny. For dessert we had Dublin tart – baileys and chocolate…yes please! If you like spicy ask for the hot sauces!

Really cool pub in the heart of Punta Gorda. Lots of options for English beers with a decent selection of pub foods. Indoor seating was a little crowded so I’d avoid big groups if that’s your plan.

As of 12/20/2025, the last time I had been here was approximately a week before the devastation of Hurricane Ian. I had a lot of good memories here, including a third date. Ever since I moved back down to Fort Myers to keep my lonely grandmother company, I’d wanted to come back to the Ray, along other restaurants. Finally had the opening to do so after dropping ma off at the airport from her Christmas visit.
It was all I remembered and more. Rustic, CELTIC interior. Order at the bar like a right proper Pub, hearty side of chips and a slice of buttered soda bread with your pasty, and enjoy your meal in one of the best establishments in SWFL. The fact that a slice of Éire made it all the way down here without being mutated into some Americanised hellspawn is a genuine miracle. No burgers on the menu, just pure Irish cuisine made right and proper.
Get a Pasty. Get your bread pudding. And, if they got one, get a loaf of that soda bread to take home with you.
