Virginia Tech alumnus here – went for a late lunch today. The pizza is terrific. I ordered a meat lovers pizza. I believe the older I get (and I don’t consider myself old), the more I appreciate the Cellar Restaurant over other pizza in Blacksburg, VA (It is clearly better than a lot of pizzas I’ve had in Alexandria, VA where I live – and that’s high praise coming for me). It’s made, baked, and cooked cleanly – it’s not a greasy pizza – and that’s the secret to high quality pizza. Thank you for an outstanding dining experience.

A great lunch place for us on a brief stopover in Blacksburg. Extensive menu and the Spanakopita and Gyro were delicious! Great selection of beers that you can buy home. Nice outdoor sitting for good weather days.

Great local spot. Food took a while to come out, but it was pretty crowded so it was fine. Space is well-decorated and not like anything else in Blacksburg. Some of the best curly fries I’ve ever had and the Gyro was great as well. Overall, awesome spot and definitely the best of Blacksburg.

We had such a great meal at The Cellar today! We started with the steamed shrimp (seasoning on the side) and WOW—there were so many and they were cooked perfectly. For our main, we got the Cellar House Special pizza and added olives… omg, we demolished it. You can probably tell from the pics lol. We also tried the Meat Lovers pizza with cheddar, which had incredible flavor, and the steak sandwich did not disappoint either. Everything came out hot, fresh, and super flavorful. Highly recommend!

If you’re a Canadian/foreign student or visitor without a physical passport in hand, I’ll save you a very bad experience – DON’T COME!! The server at the basement bar does not take any form of ID that is not from the US and is beyond discriminatory to anyone who carries a foreign ID. My Ontario ID got dismissed even after offering additional sets of ID and a photocopy of my passport. The bar was empty, so there was no reason for her behavior or the aggression she showed after asking my friends and me to leave.

I have been a customer of this restaurant for years and they have always been lacking in the service quality. However, after tonight’s experience I am done. The young male server with glasses needs some serious training on how to treat customers. When we kindly asked him for a refill on our beverages after waiting at least 5 minutes with empty cups, we were told, “Yeah, I was planning on it!”. Never again!

I would give it 0 stars, the service is rude and dismissing. We literally just wanted a beer, but honestly, worst service I’ve ever had — do not come here!!! The server at the basement bar sucks and was beyond discriminatory to my friend who had a valid piece of ID, and also the bar was EMTPY no people in there so my guess would be the bartender just wanted to keep it that way and not work.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was so noisy that I decided to take my pizza to go rather than dine in. As soon as the pizza came out of the kitchen in a take out box and was paid for I drove 5 minutes home with it. Once there I immediately pulled a slice out and discovered that the crust was so soggy it was disintegrating in the box. I called the restaurant to report the issue & was told that a manager would call the next morning to discuss a refund. The manager didn’t call the next day so I called the restaurant back that day, explained the issue and left my contact info again. I was again told that a manager would contact me to discuss a refund when one came in later that afternoon. I didn’t receive the second promised call back from a manager either. I called a third time to try to speak to the manager & was told that no manager was in the restaurant and the staff didn’t expect them to be in for the rest of the night. After giving the restaurant several opportunities to make the situation right only to be given empty promises I won’t make the mistake of visiting the Cellar Restaurant anymore. I’m sure that any of the other locally owned pizza places in town will appreciate my business.
