Celeste by Mindscapes, near Coonoor, is a lovely place to unwind with good food and breathtaking views. The valley view is the biggest highlight with misty hills, greenery, and a very calm vibe that makes you want to sit longer and enjoy the moment.

The ambience is peaceful and tastefully done, with both indoor and outdoor seating. It’s ideal for a relaxed lunch or dinner. The staff are polite and attentive, and service is smooth, though it can get a bit busy during peak hours.

Coming to the food, the menu offers a nice mix of Indian and continental dishes. Some items really stand out and are worth trying. Must-try dishes include the Mushroom Cappuccino soup, wood-fired pizzas, grilled chicken, and their continental mains like pasta and seafood preparations. Their desserts and hot beverages pair well with the cool weather and the view.

Prices are on the higher side, but considering the location, ambience, and overall experience, it feels justified. Advance booking is recommended if you want a good view table. Overall, a great spot near Coonoor for a relaxed dining experience with scenic views and decent food.

Visited Celeste by Mindscape for a family lunch. It is a club based resto bar & the location is the main highlight. The ambience is beautiful, with a stunning valley view that makes the dining experience visually memorable.
We ordered Schezwan fried rice,Hakka noodles, vegetable sizzler, asparagus and zucchini soup, kids meals & finished with their gulab jamun cheesecake.

The food was good, served in very generous portions and most dishes were flavourful and tasty. However the service inside was just average. If we needed any assistance even something small no staff members approached us.We had to wait specifically for our order taker, which was disappointing. Some staff appeared uninterested in offering help.

The menu is quite expensive, especially the cheesecake priced at ₹450 which was not value for money. We also ordered a lime juice priced at ₹150 which was never served, though it was included in the bill. For four adults, the total bill came to over ₹5,000.

Overall, the ambience and food quality are good, but the service and pricing need improvement to match the experience.

Could not find a proper review on food, price and seating – all was talking about the view..

First of all coming all the way from kotagiri and not finding a 1/7 view seating was disappointing – so please book in advance any 7 view seats and come, food is indeed expensive but….

We got a non view seat and ordered food, menu was big and confusing to me..not much help…

We ordered korean bef, Murgh peswari both was good – pricy, Mojito was good – again pricy at 270/-, I also had roti with chicken tikka masala – CTM was ok, lastly for some rice we took our chance on Biriyani it was with lots of masala not proper dum – average..again pricy..

Overall – crowd in the 7 seats enjoying the food with view we were left disappointed, then half food ordered was great rest average and the bill at 3500 for 2 was bit tooo much – in my view..

I will have to think twice before i go next time..also forgot something in bill – staff contribution 307/- not sure why..

STUNNING LOCATION – SUBSTANDARD EXECUTION – A Distasrous failure of Hospitality Management and ZERO Customer Centricity

This review is intended to provide ” reality on the ground ” feedback.
I appreciate the significant hard work and investment required to create such a beautiful establishment; these observations are offered in good spirit to apprise the OWNER that it is ONLY Operational Execution that will ensure sustainability of what is CLEARLY a profitable enterprise.

Two things are certain : (1). I am not returning to ” Celeste ” and (2). I will not refer any of my Friends & Family .

While Celeste by Mindescapes undoubtedly occupies the most breathtaking location in the Nilgiris—a true COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE—Our ACTUAL EXPERIENCE was entirely SPOILED by a lack of managerial oversight, poor service standards, and overpriced, mediocre F&B.

My wife and I have traveled the world and understand the price-to-value equation in luxury dining.
@ Celeste – The PRICE to VALUE Equation is NON EXISTENT ( Picture of Bill attached – Pricing is a RIP OFF – especially considering the Restaurant does not need to spend anything for AIRCONDITIONING and has easy access to Good Quality Veggies at very Low Cost being in the Nilgiris )

We visited on 3rd Feb 2026 to celebrate her birthday; it was a “bucket list” wish she had held for two years.
Unfortunately, the reality was a series of professional lapses from start to finish !!!

1. Management & Service
a). Zero Oversight: The ASSISTANT MANAGER was largely absent, ill-groomed, and displayed an ARROGANT demeanor.
His lack of F&B knowledge—likely a steward promoted beyond his competence—was APPARENT.

b). Bungled Celebration: The “surprise” cake cutting was ruined when the Assistant Manager played the birthday song prematurely.
Despite his team’s graciousness, he lacked the basic courtesy to engage with us throughout the meal.

c ). Training Gaps: The service staff lacked the fundamental restaurant service skills expected of a premium establishment.

2. Food & Beverage Quality: A DISASTER ( SEE PICTURES ATTACHED )

a). Amuse-Bouche: A nice gesture in THEORY, but tasted HORRIBLE. The portion size for a 4-pax table was so MINUSCULE they shouldn’t have bothered ( See pic )

b). Drinks: The Bloody Mary was APPALLING—over-iced, ZERO GARNISH, NO STIR STICK even, and poorly mixed – priced @ Rs 675 !!!

c ). Main Course (Pepper Steak): Shocking portioning. Two tiny pieces of meat, two cubes of carrot, two small florets of broccoli, and an insipid blob of potato mash and a sub standard sauce – Priced @ Rs 875.

d ). Mixed Meat Fried Rice: Lacked any meat (beef, pork, or shrimp) and zero burnt garlic flavor.

e ). Sweet & Sour Pork: Reminiscent of a roadside shack—minimal meat DROWNING in a sauce that used sugar and vinegar rather than pineapple. Truly a SHAME.

f ). Crab Meat : Served in four small shells with almost no trace of actual crab meat – Priced @ Rs 545.

g ). Bread Rolls: Literally turned to powder ( which I demonstrated to Nishan ), served with “war ration” butter portions – This was a JOKE !!!

3. ADDING INSULT TO INJURY : The Service Charge Coercion

The RIDICULOUS table standee reads :

“A VOLUNTARY GRATUITY OF 10% IS ADDED TO ALL CHECKS FOR THE WELL BEING OF THE MINDESCAPES® TEAM.
WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT”

This is a legal and ethical contradiction. You cannot label something “voluntary” and then “automatically add” it.
In India, service charges must be optional.

Forcing this is not hospitality; it is COERCION.

A Note on Service Recovery :

NISHAN, the steward, was the ONLY one who displayed a true willingness to serve.
He accepted the reality of our disastrous experience and apologized profusely.

Meanwhile, his ARROGANT Assistant Manager remained ABSENT throughout the process.

Final Verdict:

We paid a premium price for a “rip-off” experience !!!
The 1-star rating remains despite the restaurant removing charges for the pork and rice; SERVICE RECOVERY is a managerial process, and that process was non-existent.

Hardly a ” CELESTIAL EXPERIENCE ” !!!

If you’re looking for the perfect blend of stunning scenery and top-notch cuisine, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. Nestled in the lap of the mountains, the panoramic views are nothing short of magical. The food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was a burst of flavour, beautifully plated and clearly crafted with care. Warm lighting, cozy ambiance, and attentive staff made it feel welcoming and relaxed without compromising on elegance.

Stopped by for lunch at Celeste. First impression, great location and a view to die for. So try and get a table at the window. The place was packed, which is always a good sign, good thing we made a reservation

The staff is so polite and the service was attentive and warm. Shout out to Paul and his team of servers

The food was excellent. It came quick and tasted very good. There are choices that will please every pallete from Indian, continental and Asian.

We had a great time and will make it a must visit on all our future visits to the Nilgiris.

Interesting variety of cuisines. Tends to be noisy but that’s because of ill disciplined children. Distracts from a truly fine dining experience. Noise cancelling earphones highly recommended

Scenic views with top-notch Chinese cuisine
This hilltop restaurant offers stunning views and exceptional service that truly elevate the dining experience. Specializing in Chinese cuisine, every dish we tried was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. It’s definitely on the expensive side, but the quality, ambience, and hospitality make it well worth the splurge. A perfect spot for a special meal with a view!

This is my 2nd timw stay here.
Location:
5/5…..the best place in entire niligiris…the valley view is heavenly…the balcony in the room is wide enough and super cool

Ambience: 4/5

Staff behaviour: 4.5/5….very friendly and courteous staff

Things that need improvement:
FOOD: 1/5
Celeste/Nirvana restaurant are available whoch serve veg, non-veg multicuisines and alcohol drinks as well. The staff in the restaurant are critically low, not friendly. Food taste is horrible no matter what u eat. Earlier there used to be an exclusive veg restaurant for those wanting veg. Now that veg restaurant is closed. In room dining is also provided but again the experience is below average. Now the prices of the food are absurdly high and not worthy. Avoid this restaurant as much as possible but the problem is there are no good restaurants nearby particularly if ur a vegetarian.

Small things like having tissues in rooms are overlooked by house keeping. Maintenance of the property also needs to be improved.

Overall i strongly recommend sraying here if u r looking for a luxurious stay in ooty. Particularly the balcony alone justifies the price we pay. Rooms are also good. Washroom is good and 24*7 hot water with in room geyser is available. Balcony view blinds are all automatic which adds to the ambience.

I stayed in two rooms (Azure & Scarlet themes).
