I had a great experience here, the waitresses were awesome. I had the Chicken Tostado Nachos, which were very good. Cheese was delicious. Chicken cooked perfectly but just a little bland. 8.5/10. I had 4 tacos. Quesabirria Taco, which was subpar. Lacking of flavor but cheese was tasty. Taco by itself 5/10 But the Consome was so delicious best I’ve ever had 10/10. Tso Good taco. Delicious, nice, and fresh. The coleslaw and Sriracha Aioli on it was amazing chicken cooked to perfection. 9/10. The Southwest clicker is very tasty. Same thing, Sauce and Coleslaw amazing. 8.5/10 Last but not least, sweet Caroline taco. Pork was very bland, but the sauce and the crispy onions were flavorful. 6.5/10. Shout out to the Chefs/Cooks in the back. Presentation Game 10/10 Sauce game 10/10 Food Game 8.5/10, Price Game 8.5/10. I will come back again!!!

Decided to stop here for lunch since I was passing through Peoria. There was a long wait to even be greeted and seated. To the point that a couple arrived 15 minutes before me and went next door instead.

Cayenne had a nice decor and background music that wasn’t obnoxious. There’s a nice variety of tacos to choose from. During my meal I found out that there were only 2 guys for the entire front of the restaurant (making drinks, taking orders, serving, cleaning tables) on a Saturday. I’m thankful for the service, but hopefully it’s a more responsive place on normal nights.

First impressions are awesome! Place is decorated very well and it looks really cool when you walk in. The service was very lackluster. The waiter seemed irritated to be there and did not come off as very friendly. If you want chips and salsa….pay for it…chips were ok, queso ok, salsa was overloaded with cumin. We ordered several different tacos and street corn. Every taco seemed to be lacking decent seasoning, from the tuna, Cuban, Caroline, cowboy up and birria were very under seasoned. The birria consume made them even worse, it was the worst consume I have ever tasted. My boy really liked his big clucker tacos and my youngest liked the Mac n cheese taco. My wife and inhad margaritas and my first sip was pure water. I used a straw to taste the margarita, but it was not very good for sure…..A+ for decor, F for everything else.

The waitstaff was super nice and it only took 20 minutes to order, get our food, appetizer and drinks. The frozen margarita was very watery – would not recommend, and the chips were tasteless and not anything special. We got 4 tacos: the Marci gras one (shrimp), the tso chicken one, the Mac n cheese one, and the BBQ pork one. My favorite was the BBQ. All the tacos are what I would describe as “watery” – very heavy on the sauces. The Mac n cheese one was so watery that it was a bit unpleasant in taco form. The shrimp one was fine, but our least favorite actually! The BBQ is so good; next time I’ll just two of those, skip the chips and marg, and I’d come again. Loved all the unique ideas for the tacos!!

I would like to support local businesses when ever I can, but one of the taco I had here was horrible. I got 3 tacos 1. Two Good (4.5/) – which was really delicious. The crunch, the sauce everything was good. 2. Quesabirria (4/5) Nice flavor but a tad bit dry but good. 3. The Big Katuna (2/5) – This was recommended by an employee. The fish on this taco was spoiled. I could not finish my bite. They should have checked before serving it to the customers. I also got the street corn, which was ok. The place was decent and had a nice decor. But my Togo order took more than half hour for these 3 tacos. They really need to improve on the food they serve.

First visit to Cayenne for a weekday lunch. I loved all the different choices for tacos. My favorite was the sweet Caroline taco. The pulled pork was amazing. My husband’s favorite was the shrimp tacos.
We both enjoyed the $15 combo. 2 tacos and 1 side.
The street corn was FANTASTIC! We love trying different street corn. This one is one of our favorites.
Love the food and atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

This wasn’t the first time my family and I have eaten there which normally isn’t how i do my reviews. It’s normally a first impression kinda thing, however i was asked why i hadn’t done one and if i was going to. Well good point so i will base this review off this last time i was there and maybe sprinkle in from a couple of the past visits.
All Tacos are grilled Soft Shell. Even my wife a Crunchy taco only type person loves it.
For starters we had the Trifecta which is Guacamole, salsa, and queso con chorizo. The salsa is ok nothing to great but not bad either. The Queso con chorizo is really good (i always mix in the chorizo). The star for this app is the Guacamole it is really good and the first one gone at our table.
My Stepson this time around tried the Philly Steak Taco- Grilled Steak (shredded) Queso Blanco, peppers and onions. When i asked him how his taco was knowing I was doing a review he pulls out some NYC style food snob critique which boils down to he really liked it a lot.
My Wife (Very Very picky eater) had the Tso Good Taco-General Tso Chicken, Asian slaw,Chopped peanuts, sriracha aioli. This taco’s name says it all Tso Good. In the words of my wife “It’s F***ing Delicious” she also going full NYC food snob with her professional critique of her food. This one is a truly must try.
Yours truly had 3 tacos Tso Good (my wife tried mine the first visit and got hooked) it has become one of my standard tacos i get every time. You Gotta Be Cuban Me taco- Braised pork (shredded),Crispy ham,Swiss , Cuban mayo, Pickle (diced into small pieces) this is my other must have taco every time i go. I’m not a big fan of pickles but the way they do it on this in a small sized diced is perfect so i even leave them on cause it doesn’t trigger my dislike for pickles actually it adds to the wonderful flavor of the Cuban. So those are my standard two tacos i get every time well for my third i try a new taco each time also. This time i had the Crabby Patty-Fried crad cake, pico de gallo, lettuce,Cajun remoulade. The crab cakes are nice crispy while being soft and tender with good flavor. Overall pretty good taco if you like crab cakes it’s a must try.
On previous visits i have tried the Mad Clucker- Fried chicken, buffalo sauce, lettuce, ranch, blue cheese crumbles. Feels like a standard buffalo chicken wrap feels kinda plain when next to most of the other tacos from the menu. I also have tried the CLT-Chicken, Crispy chicken skin, lettuce, tomato, avocado ranch. I wasn’t really a fan of this one the crispy skin was like minced up and tasted kind burnt and i just didn’t like the avocado ranch.
Dessert we had the Caramel Apple Chimicheesecake. chimichanga filled with cheesecake deep fried covered in cinnamon and sugar over a apple pie type filling with caramel sauce and a “healthy” portion of whipped topping. It’s my wife’s favorite to where we have even gone there just for dessert. It’s really good however i think i would like the apples hot instead of a room temperature or whatever they keep them at.
The Damage for three people our total came to $51.71 which is fair for all we got and all three of us left full and very happy.
The Service has been absolutely amazing every time we have been there. The staff is awesome at helping you figure out the menu and what you would like to try. They are on point with drink refills and getting finished plates out of the way.
Overall Cayenne is a must try. The decor is cool with it’s Dia de los Muertos type theme and the artwork all over is really neat.

Nice selection of out-of-the-norm tacos! The food was great! So was the street corn! I preferred the pulled pork tacos over the brisket tacos, the brisket just didn’t quite do it for me. The service was decent. They weren’t too busy around 8:45 or so but they brought us waters, came back and asked if we were ready to order. I guess at that point we could have ordered drinks off the menu but the waiter didn’t take a drink and appetizer order first before asking what we were having, so we went without drinks and just had water even though the drink menu looked good. Quick service, good food, great atmosphere. Overall a good experience and would return!

First off, let me start by saying, what a fun place! Both times I’ve been here during dinner time, it’s been busy and the place gets packed so plan accordingly or go early! Cayenne is a fun little joint with a twist on american street taco cuisine. They have a fantastic assortment of interesting tacos and they feature a taco of the week called their “WTF – Weekly Taco Feature”. Very clever guys, hats off to ya.

The decor on the inside is nothing shy of creative and fun. I would say it’s reminiscent of El dia de Los Muertos while still trying to be cozy and modern. Upon walking in, you’ll be greeted by the host/hostess and led to your table. The appetizers are your typical tex-mex assortment (see the menu online for more details). But if you’ve found Cayenne by searching for a new restaurant to explore, chances are you’re not here for the appetizers. The taco menu had a wide variety of choices sure to suit anyone looking for something unique. They even have options for vegans which I loved(disclaimer: I’m not vegan but like to note that since people often confuse vegetarian options with vegan options). I’ve attached a couple pictures of food. One is an assortment of their special tacos and the other is their style of taco salad. The drink is a regular lime margarita. This one is on the rocks but you can ask to have it frozen since they’re all made to order.

The service was fairly quick both times for how busy it was. I should say I wouldn’t expect to be in and out during the dinner hours even with this being a taco joint. For a party of 4 with appetizers and no dessert, we were there for just about 1.5 hours.

The heights is a great area to spend time and explore if you’ve never been and Cayenne just adds to the adventure with some really great food choices that offers a fun little atmosphere.

All-in, I would absolutely recommend this restaurant and quite honestly, this place definitely makes the top 15 list of best places to eat in Peoria (and Peoria is not short on one-off restaurants).
