The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Wagyu burnt ends. They were absolutely phenomenal—juicy, tender, and packed with smoky flavor that melted in my mouth. It was unlike any barbecue I’ve tasted back home, and it set a new standard for me. Alongside that, I tried several items from the menu, and honestly, I could not find a single thing to complain about. Every bite, from the brisket to the ribs, showcased the passion and perfection Texas pitmasters are famous for.
The atmosphere added to the charm—friendly locals, rustic décor, and the aroma of slow-cooked meat creating a cozy, authentic vibe. As someone visiting from Hyderabad, I felt both welcomed and amazed by the culinary culture here.
If there’s one thing I’ll tell anyone traveling to Dallas, it’s this: do not miss the barbecue. This experience has turned me into a lifelong fan of Texas BBQ!
We arrived about 15 minutes before their 10:00 AM opening, and there was already a line of ten people ahead of us. Around 10:15 AM, the owner and a young man (guessing her son) came out to welcome the now-long line, gave us a rundown of the day’s menu, and officially opened the doors with a cowbell ring—a great touch of hospitality.
We went all out and ordered the Wagyu brisket, Wagyu beef cheeks, Hatch green chili sausage, and a pork rib. For sides, we had the beans, jalapeño cheese grits, cornbread, and finished with the banana pudding. I definitely saved the best for last. While the brisket was perfectly executed, the Wagyu beef cheeks topped with chimichurri were the absolute star of the show—rich, incredibly tender, and the acidity from the herbs cut through the richness perfectly. We also really loved the grits, and even though I was stuffed, I couldn’t help but finish the banana pudding.
The shop itself is very clean with that classic, communal BBQ seating. The service was top-notch from start to finish. If you’re in Dallas, this is a must-visit.
Ordered beef ribs as well, we loved every bit of it! Will definitely come back for more .
We were there before noon, good amount of people but not crowded. The staff and cashier were definitely friendly as it was our first time.
Brisket and ribs were dry and over priced. The wagyu brisket was quite dry. Burnt ends were quite tough to chew. Their dirty rice is good but excess spices, especially black pepper masks the true flavor of original spices. Overall the meat rub has very concentration of black pepper which creates a burning sensation in mouth. Brisket was not tender and if you plan on carrying some home, it may not remain moist next day.
Overall, it is not a place worth standing in long lines. It is an average place which may have served good bbq sometime ago.
Helpful tip: we got there at around 12:45 and by the time we left, they had sold out of meat, but there was no line on a Wednesday at peak lunch time!
My coworkers and I wanted to go to lunch and I had told them that I found this place we can check out. Mind you some of them do not eat beef and I told them they have turkey as an alternative option and saw they had some specials on Jerk chicken. When we arrived around noon, we realized that they were completely sold out of turkey, beef ribs, and moist brisket.
I was completely shocked and upset because it seemed too early to be running out of food and I felt horrible for recommending this place to my coworkers that there were some poultry meat options. They ended up eating only sides while some of us ate beef.
I ended up ordering half lb of burnt ends to compensate for not having moist brisket. 1/4 of lean brisker. 1 spicy Texan sausage, side of burnt ends beans and hatch Mac and cheese with some jalapeños, pickles and onions. All for $56 which I thought was kinda steep for the quality of the food on my opinion. I didn’t get to finish my food because I didn’t care to eat it after a few bites. I brought leftovers to my wife and she didn’t care for it either
I’m very specific on what I like and knowing that they didn’t have moist brisket was a deal breaker. I ended up trying the lean with burnt ends. There was no wow factor like I’ve had with other places like Hutchins. Everything on the menu has a slight sweetness to me, the burnt end beans, the pickles, even the jalapeños had a hint of sweetness to it. I’m all for a tiny hint of sweetness to bbq sauce but not on everything. This was not something I was expecting from the flavor profile I personally look into. The burnt ends had a good texture, slightly salty but with a sweet undertone. The lean brisket was a lean as it can be. Some people would prefer it, but just not my cup of tea. The hot spicy Texan texture was not it. Don’t care for the sausage at all. I probably won’t get any of their sausage.
I honestly not sure if I would come back or recommend this restaurant to any bbq connoisseur. Maybe it’s me or maybe it’s just bad timing. Regardless I’m not sure if I’m ready to go back just yet. For now I’m sticking with Hutchins and Pecan Lodge and a few other places like Hurtado’s and even Zavala’s bbq. Those places I do recommend on going.
