We visited the Catfish Hut on a Saturday for lunch in mid-May. Arriving around 11, we were early lunch guests and several other locals arrived closer to noon. There was a steady stream of take out customers, too. The dining area was clean and inviting. We had the 2-piece catfish dinners, which came with one trip to the nicely stocked and fresh salad bar, a bake potato, and two hush puppies. We had an extra order of piping hot fried okra. All the food was hot and tasty. The prices were very reasonable, too. The staff was friendly and attentive.

I thought we were about to experience a quintessential Mississippi hole-in-the-wall restaurant gem, but it was a terrible disappointment. After we sat at our table, it took them 15 minutes before someone checked on us to take our order. It took an HOUR to get our food after ordering what they are known for (fried catfish). This isn’t fancy food we are discussing here! Then the food was of such poor quality and cold that it made us regret we hadn’t walked out before our meal arrived. The atmosphere was filthy, and flies were everywhere. I highly recommend shutting down this place so no one ever eats here and gets sick.

Chairs, tables, roof overhead… all you need to enjoy Mississippi fried catfish and “fixins'” as good as anywhere in the state! (Which should go without sayin’ that its better than anywhere, period!)

Second time here. Just as amazing as the first time months ago. My catfish was piping hot and crispy delicious. Side of fries and salad bar were all great too. They have an A health rating and i saw maybe two flies in the whole restaurant. The place is definitely a hole in the wall, but it is a great gem. I look forward to my third visit sometime in the future.

Stumbled across this restaurant while visiting the Oakland area for the week for work. The atmosphere was exactly what you’d expect for a southern small town, it was cozy, inviting, and the staff was extremely friendly. It was my first time here and I got the Philly cheesesteak with fries and it was delicious. Also, the prices are amazing, it’s nice to be able to get good food and not have to go broke doing it.

Good hush puppies, baked potato, salad bar, and okra. This is an out-of-the-way spot near Lake Enid. It looks like a dive, but I would hope back for that fish…thick filets lightly breaded with cornmeal. Fluffy hush puppies…not rocks! Haha
$25 bucks for 2 meals and 2 drinks. Oh yeah…good strong sweet tea, like it oughta be! Blue Bell ice cream!!!

This was an amazing gem of a find! It was awesome. Our server, Jessica, was friendly and courteous without being overbearing. The ultra clean restaurant is nestled back from the highway, near the lake. Which is great for the freshest, tastiest catfish I’ve had in a long while. The salad bar was nicely stocked with fresh vegetables. My only regret is that I was do full (had to get a doggie bag) that I didn’t have room for the super-sized hand-dipped ice cream cones. This is definitely on our Must Return To list.

This is the best down home cooking place around. They have plenty of choices, but I can’t make myself try anything new. The catfish is some of the best I’ve ever had so I always get it. If you haven’t been here, I suggest you do.
