Review for Catch 21 Seafood- Steakhouse – Scranton, PA
At first, from the outside, I wasn’t impressed—I was like, “Ugh, this is my birthday, and I want somewhere really swanky and special.” But the moment I walked in, the atmosphere completely changed my mind.
The host greeted me, though she was busy at the moment, which I completely understand. Later, she made up for it by being incredibly attentive throughout my visit. I was the only customer at the time, and her service made me feel truly valued.
I ordered the Caesar salad, which was fantastic, followed by the prime rib with bone, macaroni and cheese, and broccoli. I like my steak cooked perfectly well, and not charred—once again, they did not disappoint. My steak was perfect and bathed in butter. To my surprise, it also came with a side of crispy, perfectly fried onion rings. The bread presentation with the butter design was beautiful, too. Throughout the meal, the staff checked in consistently to make sure everything was perfect.
I wish I had gotten the hostess’s name—her service was outstanding. I spent over $100, but for my birthday treat, it was worth every penny. Compliments to the chef and the entire staff for an exceptional dining experience.
To top it off, they surprised me with a carrot cake on a special birthday plate after learning it was my birthday. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I left more than satisfied and will definitely be returning.… more… View more

This place was a total surprise. The food was outstanding and the service was down to earth and very friendly.
Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the desserts and appetizers did not disappoint. You could tell everything was very fresh with high quality ingredients. Overall, this is one of the best restaurants in eastern PA. Absolutely worth a stop.

Seems this place is stuck between wanting to be a fine dining restaurant and not. The food was great, portions, taste, presentation, all good with the exception of the bread, the bread at the beginning was cold and seemed store bought. Rwast of the food was great.
Now for the service, it was slow and very inattentive. Being that the restaurant was not full, it was disappointing that we had long waits with service. We were never asked how our food was and clearing the table was very slow. We needed water refills and plates cleared and it simply was not done.
We came in expecting a more upscale fine dining experience and it just fell short.
Would visit again, but will a lower expectation.

We visited Catch 21 Seafood & Steak last night as a party of four, and everything was absolutely outstanding. The food was exceptional fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Every dish we tried was delicious from start to finish.
What truly made the experience unforgettable, though, was the staff. The service was unreal. Our waiter Luani, was phenomenal attentive, friendly, professional and made us feel genuinely welcome the entire evening. You can tell he truly cares about providing great service.
We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Ben who was incredibly kind and hands on. It’s rare to see an owner so involved and passionate about ensuring guests have a great experience, and it really shows in how well the restaurant is run.Amazing food, amazing people, and a great atmosphere. Catch 21 caught and hooked us as repeat customers! Outside ambiance was nice. Host Benny was gracious enough to accommodate our sudden reservation change from indoor to outdoor seating. Indoor looked nicely dim, comfortable and cozy. Server Jen was amazing through the whole dinner from start to finish and added to the list of reasons we’ll return and recommend to friends. Food ordered: burrata, crab bisque, chicken marsala, shrimp scampi and crème brûlée…accompanied by espresso martini and peach honey old fashioned. Could go on about each dish and how good everything is, but sum it up as you can easily tell there won’t be a single disappointing item on the menu. It’s obvious there are no shortcuts taken in the kitchen and they put the time in, using only the best ingredients to make all dishes pop with flavor. We can’t wait to return and try out more of the menu!

This restaurant in the heart of Scranton is a must-eat! Steak was to die for. Lobster excellent! We brought our guests from Australia including a MasterChef and they were impressed. The only criticism we had was the bread came out cold and not enough crust on the creme brulee. Thank you Benny for the hospitality we will be back!

We ordered crab cake and salads. Then pork chop and Mac and cheese, also salmon and some martinis to drink. Was very good, my food was excellent loved it. Food was cooked perfectly salmon was crispy and not dry. Wait staff was vey helpful and had excellent service. Husband ate his food, he is very picky. Overall very good experience.

The food is horrible and the service was atrocious. If this is the best steakhouse in PA I really feel sorry for the locals. Sat at the bar and the bartender did not even make eye contact with us for 10 minutes. Like she was mad we were even there. Our waitress had a 1 hour conversation with the neighbouring table about cats and payed little to no attention to us.
The owner should be embarrassed and should be there to regulate their staff. 200 bill for trash food and service. Definitely lost a customer here.

Our favorite restaurant, wonderful food, amazing staff. I’m not typically a seafood fan, but seafood at Catch 21 is the exception. Lamb is my favorite dish here – simply delicious. Cocktails are great too. And Benny is the best! Highly recommend!
