The food was consistently substandard. The salad station and seafood were served at room temperature. The crab claws were extremely dry, tasteless, and appeared freezer-burnt–something I never expected to see allowed out of a professional kitchen. None of the items in the chafing dishes tasted fresh. The miniature quiche was dry, and the dinner rolls were so stale they seemed beyond days old, probably frozen. There wasn’t even butter available to accompany them.
Dessert was particularly underwhelming. There was a small bowl of warm defrosted berries along with some type of custard with chemical colored sprinkles, served in a tiny shot glass. That was the entirety of the dessert offering. If the intention was to keep the menu simple, the execution should have at least been exceptional–it was not.
The cost of the brunch was $150 per person, yet nothing was included–no champagne, not even coffee. We each ordered one espresso martini and one glass of wine, bringing our total bill to $460. Seeing that total after such a disappointing experience felt like a slap in the face.
To add to the overall dissatisfaction, my table faced a filthy wall, which unfortunately felt fitting given the quality of the food and service.
5 stars!!!
Their menu is loaded with several delicious items, it was tough to decide what to get! Their huevos rancheros was incredible! But the best thing I enjoyed was their chicken at dinner… I never order chicken from a nicer restaurant, but the description looked so amazing that I had to try this and I most definitely enjoyed every bit of it! In fact, others sitting at the bar also tried it and commented about how amazing this entrée was!
Save room for dessert, they have an excellent dessert menu too! Their Ritz chocolate cake was incredible!
Their bar offerings are all outstanding… from their excellent wine list, to the top shelf spirits and the cocktails they make with them.
They offer outdoor seating, overlooking the marina, which is a great place to enjoy breakfast!
Highly recommend stopping in while staying here and even if in the area, it’s worth visiting the Ritz one evening for dinner here!
Food quality was inconsistent: the Bloody Mary was tasteless, the King Crab salad was sparse, and the BLT bacon was overcooked. Most disappointing was the peanut cookie, which was served hot on the outside but still frozen in the middle. Beautiful venue, but the kitchen execution and the mixology needs improvement.
Before reserving on Open Table, I wanted to make sure that their idea of “classic holiday dishes” included ham, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, etc. I called at 7:07pm on Wednesday, December 10 and spoke to a male.
I specifically asked him if ham and turkey would be part of the carving station and if there would be all the trimmings. I was assured there would be ham, turkey, prime rib and all the trimmings. I asked if champagne was included and was told that it was. Perfect! I had an out of town guest and wanted to impress her.
Our reservation was for 1:30pm. We arrived and had the car valet parked. We were seated and everything seemed fine. It was cozy, tastefully decorated, and offered a lovely view of the marina.
The food offered was not what I was told! There was only prime rib at the carving station. No ham. No turkey. No side dishes. NO champagne included—not even coffee, juices, or sodas.
We considered leaving, but it was Christmas day and options were limited, especially with no reservation elsewhere. We thought we’d just enjoy the view, company, and the food that was available, though we’d had our hearts set on what we considered holiday dishes.
The food was subpar! The bread was hard and stale. No butter was at the buffet, so we ordered some butter from the waiter. It came after about 20 minutes. The crab claws were revolting. They’d obviously been frozen and were waterlogged, sinewy, and fishy smelling. The salads were warm. The crispy potatoes had such an overpowering truffle flavor that they were inedible. Desserts were a joke!
The best things there were the bacon and scrambled eggs. Basically we paid $150 each to eat bacon and eggs. We should have rented a $60 motel room for the night and gotten a much better continental breakfast for free.
We were both shocked when we received the bill. We had each had two drinks from the bar and the buffet. It came to a total of $463.59!!!
I definitely will not be recommending Cast & Plow to ANYONE!
