The service was quick despite ordering the food and having it made, the servers were polite, and the food has a very homestyle southern cooking feel to it. I’d recommend it if you’re in the area; it’s well worth the price especially the Boudin balls.

No skimp on the shrimp with this outrageous Po’Boy at Cast Iron Cafe! The French bread was fresh, chewy and the perfect blend of spices! The crawfish Po’Boy and cheese burgers were equally impressive! The staff was super friendly and the prices was very reasonable! 5-Stars, across the board and very much worth the drive to St Gabriel/Sunshine, LA!!

This place has really good brisket. I’ve been there twice now. The first time, I got the plate lunch which was red beans and rice and a side. It came with a drink and dessert but was $12. I didn’t feel like that was a good value but wanted to try the place again since it’s so close to work. Today I got the brisket sandwich and while the flavor was excellent, the portion wasn’t great. My fries were very pale due to being undercooked. This simple sandwich and fries took 25 minutes to get to me. For the time I was away from work, I could’ve driven to lots of other places and saved money as well. A coworker that went the same day got the $12 plate lunch of spaghetti and said it was heavy on noodles but light on sauce. They seem to be capitalizing on the lack of alternatives in St. Gabriel but the slow service, small portions and high prices will cause me to seek other options available.

First time experience eating here today with my two teenage kids who usually eat everything you can throw at them and ask for more. They both got the cheese burgers, fries, and drinks. They tore them burgers up, but couldn’t Finish the fries. I had a shrimp poboy that I had to eat about 15 shrimp before I had room to close the bread to eat it. It was delicious! The food was very hot and fresh with quick service. I will be back to try other things in the near future. Highly recommend!

Great place to grab amazing seafood. I had a shrimp poboy, and it was so fresh. It was over stuffed with shrimps. Then the price was so reasonable, staff was super friendly. Definitely go there if you have time. Only downfall is there is no place to eat indoors. Other than that, no complaints at all. I definitely plan on going back there.

I’m so excited to have this new Cafe’ open up in my small town. Ever since moving to St. Gabriel over 4 years ago we have been so limited on places to eat. My family and I have eaten here numerous times and I can’t say enough not only about the food, but the staff. It’s a family own business which I love. I myself own a small business and I am all about supporting others and their dreams. My families favorites are the Mike’s Cajun spaghetti, the shrimp po’boys, which is always over flowing with shrimp, and the smoked Brisket. You can tell the brisket was cooked to perfection cause it melts in your mouth!!!! I’ve tried it every time and never been disappointed. I’m so happy that they are now serving breakfast and will be back soon. Thanks for coming to my town and looking forward to many more items to come. #supportyoursmallbusinesstheywillsupportyouintimesofneed:)

As someone who works in technology, specifically SEO and digital marketing’ish things, I appreciated being able to message the café from w/in Google. I had a couple of questions and they were answered promptly.
I went the next day to get some brisket sandwiches. There was a pickup window but I decided to go inside. The place was slammmmmed and after eating there I understand why. I had to wait longer than I wanted to but life isn’t perfect. The place was slammed. The crowd was largely plant workers, which also makes sense, because there aren’t many options out this way. I ordered 3 brisket sandwiches and took them home to my family. They were yummy. By far some of the best brisket in the region. No complaints at all. Great stuff. Great smoky flavor.
After I got home, I got a message from the lady I messaged with out of the blue. She said she saw my name and apologized for the delay. This is great customer service.
We are going to go back and try the hamburger steak and lasagna. I’m sure it will be just as good. Make sure you check their daily lunch special on Facebook.
For now, this place is a gem right next to Jake’s BBQ. I would suggest ordering ahead until they can get some more seating outside (or wherver) to keep up w/ demand that I am sure is going to swell.

If you’re just riding by you’ll miss it. It’s wedged between a truck stop and a casino, but the food is top notch. One of those gems you stumble upon and end up dropping a pin on your map because you enjoyed it so much. Five stars all day for the Cast Iron Cafe!
