CASH ONLY – there my rant and reason for avoiding this place is over. I am so glad the stars aligned today: time, cash, hunger, and proximity as I have told many people to visit this diner since moving to the area four years ago but had never tried it myself because I don’t usually carry cash.

I walked in for a late breakfast and was greeted warmly and told to pick a spot. The service throughout was excellent in this little country diner and I’d estimate it fits around 30 people in the main area where I sat. There were just a handful of us, and I spent some of my last bites as the only patron in this nice, quiet, perfect mix of local, family and seasonal-decor explosion. It was a happy place and that was before I even ordered.

They had standard breakfast options as you’d expect from a diner. I went with the french toast and The Diner Plate to get an idea of what they had. I took the advice of my kind waitress to upgrade to the gravy with sausage and WOW, it did not disappoint and was large enough I had a good serving for another meal. Everything on that plate was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavors and at just the right temperature. It was fairly priced and is something that will tempt me to drive into Richfield Springs on a quiet morning with cash in my pocket.

I loved my breakfast here and found it to be a great find. Right when I was going to ask the waitress some hard questions, a gentleman came in, so I’ll leave my comments here. The area is full of maple syrup farmers. I love it when local businesses support other local businesses, especially if it means I get real maple syrup on my french toast. The corn syrup didn’t add anything to the meal and was disappointing. It turned what could have been an amazing side of perfectly cooked goodness into just fine enough. I’d love to see a way to get the good stuff on the tables even if it meant the price of dishes where someone might want syrup increased.

I also would love it if they accepted cards. I hated cash vs. credit prices before but lots of places in NY now offer both. I always choose credit as it makes it easier to track for budgeting, I get rewards, I don’t always have cash, especially enough to feed a group of people breakfast, and I tend to tip better when I use plastic. That’s just my experience and now that I’ve tried the great food and service of Cassidy’s Diner, I’ll overlook my “nice to haves” and maybe bring my own syrup if I get the french toast.

Best service I’ve literally EVER had! Cassidy was very kind and the portions were HUGE! Prices were very reasonable and that nostalgic feeling of walking into a diner as a kid all comes rushing back! All in all, great food, great prices, great service and great service!!

Stooped in for breakfast while traveling. Great service , very friendly staff. We got breakfast, it came out fast and delicious . The best sausage gavy I’ve had while living in the northeast !
Just for your knowledge, this is a cash only establishment.

A true hidden gem! Had the “Diner Cuban” sandwich and it was one of the best Cuban sandwiches I’ve ever had (and I grew up in Miami). Served on an excellent bun instead of Cuban bread and not pressed like the original but the ingredients were spot on and superb. My wife had the patty melt and loved it. Great, friendly service, fair prices. And the french fries and sweet potato fries were among the best we’ve ever had. Not to miss if passing through Central New York.

The perfect small town cafe! It was everything we were hoping for, locals sitting around swapping stories and great food.
We went there for breakfast and were not disappointed!

Food was delicious with excellent service. My grilled chicken sandwich was very good. Wife liked her hamburger. Granddaughter ate her chicken fingers (no small feat).

Loved every minute of this homey-vintage style family diner. Coming from Jersey, I missed this style of “everyone knows each other” when you walk in. Food was beyond excellent. Would definitely return when in town .

Great breakfast. Quick friendly service. Don’t settle for fast food junk. I’m skeptical of the review that claimed real maple syrup though.
