My 3 year old daughter and I had a lunch date to Cascade Roadhouse on Friday the 6th. She ordered the Childrens chicken tenders and fries. About 1-2 hours after, she threw up quite a bit. It was after she had a snack, so I thought she had overeaten since it was a one-off vomiting incident. She was completely fine after thankfully.
However, 2 days later, we fed our medically complex and disabled 5 year old daughter the leftover chicken tenders, which was a completely reasonable timeframe to eat them. Again, she vomiting 1-2 hours after eating them. It again was a one-off incident showing it wasn’t illness related like norovirus, etc. No one else was sick either. Our disabled daughter also has very serious protocols around vomiting due to her implanted medical shunt— vomiting is the #1 signal that she needs emergent surgery to repair it.
I wanted to bring this to your attention because I never would have guessed that a frozen food would have caused this vomiting in both of my daughters in the same way, and it was a very concerning situation for our family. I thankfully was not sick from eating my food, which was a burger cooked well done as I’m late into my third trimester of pregnancy.
Overall, it was a very concerning situation that happened almost identically to both of our daughters— but with quite serious implications for our disabled daughter, which is not ideal after paying for a meal that sickened both of our daughters.
I ended up ordering the Roadhouse Burger ($15). This is a ½lb black angus burger with chopped bacon, sautéed bourbon onions, haystack onions, garlic herb cheese spread and BBQ sauce on a pretzel bun. The Burger was okay. I really liked all the toppings. My 2 issues were the burger wasn’t very juicy, plus meat quality was also only okay. The other was the bun was a little dry, maybe stale. I’ve had so many better burgers, it wasn’t technically bad, just very ehhh. I also upgraded to asparagus ($2.5) as my side. They were cooked properly and tasted very good. A sauce or something would take them to another level. The person I was with ordered the
Cajun Bleu Cheese Burger ($15). This is a Cajun seasoned ½lb black angus burger served with bacon, mushrooms, and crumbled bleu cheese served on a Kaiser roll. This person actually really enjoyed her Burger. Hers was cooked medium rare while mine was medium, plus different buns, so maybe that made a difference.
They were short staffed with only one waitress covering. So she was a little frazzled. However she did a good job and was still friendly in the process.
The other issue with this business I had was their website and actual are not the same. The websites menu states on Saturday it’s brunch till 3pm them dinner menu at 3pm. We cane at 3pm, because I wanted the pot roast. Nope we are told it’s Lunch menu only. If I had known that I probably wouldn’t have come here
Overall I’ll give a 3 star review. It’s not a bad place, just not anywhere near my favorite. Would I return? Probably not. If someone else really wanted to go here, then yes otherwise I don’t see myself returning.
I’ve taken family and business guests here year-round, and it’s always a win. The food, atmosphere, and overall experience never disappoint. Highly recommend!
Checked in today with 10 people in our group and were seated nearly immediately in the outside dining area which actually is very cool (this time of year it was heated very well!) The building is a rustic lodge like log construction for the country feel. The staff was amazing as they always are and our orders were taken right away with food coming out accurately and relatively quick for a group our size. Cascade Roadhouse is also a great place for happy hour as well as other group gatherings. This place will always be on my rotation for food and drink.
Only issue we had was a grumpy old server.
Kinda rude & snotty.
